Perhaps you’ve found yourself in a conversation at one point or another, and the subject of women’s rights or sexism comes up.
Invariably, someone will hijack the conversation by asking about men’s rights.
Alla, a TikToker who uses the handle @therussianroulette , recently shared her response to questions like these, and it’s a thing to behold.
Alla calmly lays out the situation.

She brings up a list of men’s rights issues: mandatory military service, trafficking and suicide.
These are real issues that are worth discussing. But as Alla points out, these are issues that the conversation hijacker should already be aware of. If they want to advocate for them, they should do so — and not just bring up the concept of men’s rights as a way to disrupt the conversation.
“Are you advocating for a ban of mandatory military service for men?”

Alla continues this thought by saying that mandatory military service “[…] is still existent in so many countries all over the world.”
She questions others whether this is what they’re alluding to when they generally bring up men’s rights in response to those discussing woman’s rights.
“Are you spreading awareness about sexual trafficking of boys?”
Alla questions whether this might be what those who bring up men’s rights while people are talking about woman’s rights are referring to.
She continues to explain, “Do you know more men than women commit suicide because they are not capable of fitting into the patriarchy? Are you trying to fight it?”
Alla then states, “See, if you would really care, you would stop asking us, women, this question, and you would start asking yourself, instead. You would stand with your discriminated brothers and sisters, and you would fight for them.”
“The reality is you know that specifically your rights are not violated, and you don’t care for those men whose rights are.”

“You’re only asking us this question because you want your sexism to be justified and because you want to shift the attention,” Alla continues. “As a woman, I really care for men’s rights. And I ask you: do you, as a man, really care for men’s rights?”
Responses were mostly positive.

Here’s an example of a guy having a conversation with himself in which he posits, with no evidence, that he has done his research.
And yeah, anonymous commenter, you come off as a bit sexist.
It’s helpful to shine a light on these things.

It isn’t that men’s rights don’t deserve attention. The problem is that, all too often, men’s rights only come up as a kneejerk response to someone discussing women’s rights.
Her TikTok video has garnered a lot of attention.

Alla’s TikTok video has over 305 thousand likes and over 4 thousand comments. A vast number of those who have watched the video have also hit the like button.
Alla lays it out perfectly.
