It’s a real challenge to be part of a family at any time. You have to put your own needs aside and deal with other people who might have different values than you and might not even agree with you, but you have no other choice. It feels even more complicated if you are a lone wolf and that’s because it’s even harder to adjust yourself to some values and ideals that are totally against what you believe in. This woman had to face a similar situation. She is married to her husband who also has an annoying sister known for making some amazing cupcakes. Not wanting to fight, the woman decided to just keep her mouth shut and continue with her hobbies while the in-laws think she is somewhat not good enough. But at one point, this was just too much for her, so she decided to trick them into tasting some of her cupcakes and at least accept that she actually knows what she is doing.

But her plan had a lot of underlying resentment for her in-laws putting the SIL’s baking skills on a pedestal. It was clear that the family didn’t give the Redditor’s food a fair chance, which made her determined to prove them wrong.

Nonetheless, the Redditor is wondering if she should’ve taken this step, as her brother-in-law called her out for her spiteful behavior. Now, let’s see what the internet has to say. In the next section, we’ll explore their comments and reactions.

OP ✅ outsmarts Pete’s family

The comment author labels Pete’s family as a-holes and the replies agree, thanking the OP for her creative efforts in proving their prejudice against her baking skills. Everyone is labeling the OP as NTA (Not the A**hole).

The commenter thought the woman was NTA and found the incident both hysterical and petty. A reply to the comment agreed that the in-laws were the a-holes, but it wasn’t the best way of dealing with it and both found it awesome and hysterical.

Kay makes her point!

NTA. Kay gets her revenge on her in-laws for showing favoritism when it comes to baking – they immediately changed their tune when they found out the food was hers! Replies talk about a similar situation in their family, and one comment refers to an old saying about people liking brands over the food itself.

Kay needs to be taken down a notch NTA

MySquishyFishy | MySquishyFishy

The comment author thought that the people who were puffing up Kay’s ego needed to hear how shittily they’ve been treating the original poster. The comment and its replies discussed how Kay was being arrogant and how her in-laws needed to be taken down a peg. The replies agreed that even though it was petty, the original poster’s actions seemed justified and that Kay deserved to be taken down a notch, to which the comment author agreed, calling them NTA (not the a**hole).

The comment states that OP’s in-laws are rude, pointing out that they asked OP to bake them food despite having an existing preferred baker. The replies agree that it was wrong of the family to behave this way and agree that OP should not continue bringing desserts to family events. All in all, it’s concluded that OP is Not The A**hole here.

The comment discusses how the original poster (OP) executed a ‘sweet petty revenge’ on her in-laws. The comment acknowledges that the in-laws are all adults and that cupcake tribalism doesn’t matter but notes that the in-laws have been snubbing OP and making her feel bad on purpose. Two replies highlight the turn of phrase ‘cupcake tribalism’.

The comment reply reflects on the act with hindsight, with no expectation of growing up.

Pettiness at its best!

Petty ✅✅LOL

The comment author acknowledges that the woman’s trick was petty, but understandable, and suggests not baking for her in-laws anymore and avoiding them altogether. The replies agree with the suggestion and suggest that if this is part of a larger family dynamic, then the woman is Not the A**hole.

The Internet has applauded the story, giving it a twist of humor and drama!

The commenter suggests NTA (Not The A**hole) and advises the original poster to take a stand against her in-laws by skipping family gatherings and not bringing anything along. The reply pointed out that the in-laws’ disapproval of her may stem from the fact that her husband is the least-liked brother in the family.

The commenter applauded the woman’s clever and hilarious way to prove her in-laws wrong. Her hubby was on her side and a blind taste test was her agenda to shut them right up. The reply mentioned that the in-laws were mad because they were proven wrong.

Not The A**hole professional baker explains that having two good bakers in the family should be an advantage, not a burden. The baker also condemns Kay’s precious ego and suggests that the family may miss out on twice the amount of cake due to her behavior.

SIL is , but for this inventive trick!

bisforbnaynay | bisforbnaynay

The commenter is not the a**hole for tricking the in-laws into trying her food. The in-laws were pretty sh*tty to bash her for her treats looking nice. It looks like the SIL might be a little jealous, but the commenter thought it’s comical and inventive to at least get people to try her food and knock her in-laws down a peg. The commenter believes that it’s a waste of time and resources to do so if no one will even try it.
