The Met Gala has to be the most interesting event of the year, as far as outfits go. People really go all out .
But over the years it has become, essentially, a contest of who can dress the most bizarre or over the top, while remaining tightly in the grasps of what is considered to be high fashion .
Every year the Met Gala has a theme that celebrities are expected to take into consideration when choosing their final looks.
While some celebs take a rather tame approach — dressing in simple dresses and tuxedos that barely touch the theme, others go to much more extreme lengths.
Katy Perry, for example, is a celeb that has never held back on her Met Gala looks.
In the past, she has made sure that her outfits had paparazzi, as well as other celebs, breaking their necks to catch a glimpse.
Remember last year when she dressed up like an angel?
As I said, Katy does not hold back when it comes to dressing up for the Met Gala.
This year, however, was particularly interesting. The theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion”.
Celebs were swapping costumes, in some cases more than once, throughout the evening.
Katy started out in this 40-pound chandelier ensemble. She literally lit up the room.

Then things got weird.
For Katy’s second look of the night, she dressed up in a giant, sparkly, hamburger costume — reminiscent of a fever-dream.
Katy posted this photo on Instagram, along with a caption that briefly explains her costume choices.
“First we set the table, and then we dine,” she wrote.
Believe it or not, the best part about Katy’s costume change wasn’t the fact that it was a giant burger.
It was Jennifer Lopez accidentally walking in on her changing into it.
Her face really says it all. She looks stunned and confused.
I’ve personally never walked into a washroom and caught somebody becoming a hamburger before. But I can only imagine that it’s the last thing you’d ever expect to see.
The best part is that J-Lo completely breezes past it.
Internally she was probably saying “WTF”.
But on the outside, she brushed it off — totally nonchalant.
Fans thought this was an iconic moment.
Many felt like Jennifer Lopez blowing past Katy Perry awkwardly squeezing herself into a hamburger costume was totally relatable and a perfect example of “there are two kinds of people in this world”.
Some fans thought that J-Lo’s demeanor was very Mariah-Carey-esque.
The natural first instinct when you see someone stuffing themselves into a hamburger costume is probably to pretend you don’t know them, right?
This fan compared the way J-Lo looked at Katy to the way every popular girl ever looked at anyone lower than them on the social totem pole in high school.
