Charlotte Holmes had been attending a routine check-up when her blood pressure rose suddenly, causing her to clinically die for 11 minutes. When she came back to life, she detailed everything she saw.
She had a medical emergency
Back in September 2019, Charlotte Holmes was having a routine check-up with her cardiologist when her blood pressure shot up to 234/134, causing a sudden medical emergency.

At that moment, doctors told her she was either having another stroke or a heart attack.
Her husband recalled the situation
Holmes’ husband Danny recalled standing there helplessly as medics rushed to stabilize and save his wife.
He told the TV show The 700 Club, “Immediately, they call this code and everybody started rushing in. They just started working on her and I thought well, I’m wondering if I’m even going to be able to bring her home.”
When she came back she recalled seeing flowers
When doctors managed to bring Charlotte back, she began describing what she saw.
When she mentioned things that weren’t in the room, like flowers, her husband knew she was talking about things she saw while unconscious. “That’s when I knew she was not in this world,” he said.
She was clinically dead for 11 minutes
What happened was that Charlotte’s heart stopped, causing her to be clinically dead for 11 minutes.
The woman claimed she was looking down on her lifeless body from above, watching the medics try to save her.
Charlotte also felt she was in heaven
Describing her experience while unconscious, Charlotte also shared, “I could smell the most beautiful flowers I’ve ever smelled, and then I heard music.”
“When I opened my eyes, I knew where I was. I knew I was in heaven.”
She could hear music
Charlotte shared that she could hear music and recalled being escorted by a group of angels through the afterlife.
She said, “I can’t convey to you what heaven looked like, because it’s so above what we can even imagine, a million times.”
Charlotte recalled feeling at peace
“There’s no fear, it’s like pure joy when the angels take over,” the woman went on. “I seen my mom, I seen my dad, I seen my sister, I seen family members standing behind.”
“I seen saints of old,” she added. “They didn’t look old, they didn’t look sick, none of them wore glasses. They looked like they were in their 30s. Yet it says in the scriptures, ‘we will be known as we were known’.”
She also claimed she saw ‘hell’
Further recalling her experience, Charlotte claimed, “God took me to hell, and I looked down and the smell, and the rotten flesh – that’s what it smelled like…and screams. After seeing the beauty of heaven, the contrast to seeing hell is almost unbearable.”
Explaining why she had been there, Charlotte added, “And he says, ‘I show you this to tell you, if some of them do not change their ways, this is where they shall reside.’ I heard my father say, ‘You have time to go back and share’.”
She eventually had a full recovery
After coming back from the dead, Charlotte eventually had a full recovery and was released from the hospital two weeks after the incident.
She later passed away from a heart attack in November of 2023 at the age of 72, according to the Ozark County Times.
