Billionaire Elon Musk continues to spark controversy and raise eyebrows, starting from his “special” task as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to being photographed inside the CIA.
Normally, the public is prohibited from entering the US top intelligence center and it is highly guarded. However, Musk’s presence left some of the public scrutinizing it, while others were curious about it.
Some jokingly dubbed him the “real” leader
The internet joked about him being “President Musk” because ever since he was deemed a “special employee” by US President Donald Trump, he proved his power during his reign as the head of DOGE.
Not only did he cancel humanitarian and DEI programs and foreign aid initiatives but he also fired dozens to hundreds of federal employees in an attempt to cut down the costs.
And some seriously wondered who is in charge
Critics were flabbergasted that Musk had the power to make such decisions and hold such a position when nobody voted for him.
The White House, on the other hand, insisted that he is merely a “senior advisor to the president” and has “no actual or formal authority to make government decisions himself.”
The president made some changes
Trump was forced to impose some restrictions on Musk on intelligence-sharing from the administration, specifically any battle plans if the US were to go to war with China.
Additionally, afterward, the Tesla CEO announced that he would be leaving his role as head of DOGE, being set to leave soon this month.
Musk was in the CIA’s original headquarters building in Virginia
On April 2, the so-called “Liberation Day,” Musk can be seen in the grand white-and-gray lobby.
In front of him lay the 16-foot-diameter granite CIA seal and Musk was accompanied by one other person, which added to the eeriness.
Users wondered why was he even inside the CIA headquarters

“Why are you allowed in the CIA building?” one user wondered. “Why is a regular civilian at CIA headquarters?” another added.
“Was not aware you were an intelligence operative. Or congress. Or even elected. So why are you there?” chimed in a third.
Musk’s posting with no caption fueled the mystery further
Normally, access to the CIA headquarters is strictly for its authorized personnel, no tourists are allowed and even digital devices are not permitted.
The CIA states: “Cameras, cell phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and magnetic media are not allowed in the Headquarters building and must be left in your vehicle, or you will be expected to turn them into our security officer in the main lobby, which can delay your entrance.”
So, how was Musk able to access the headquarters and take a photo there?
