If you’re a mom, you’re probably used to picking up stuff that your kids drop around your entire house. Am I right? Then you have to be the one who also ends up putting it all back to where it came from. Sound familiar?
That sounds exhausting to me. Seriously, you could probably do that all day. Well, this one mom had had enough, so she came up with a better idea.

Her children are all under the age of nine, so you can imagine how much cleaning up after them she must do every day, right? Well, one day, she just had enough, but she didn’t snap.
Instead, she created what she calls a “F***et bucket,” ha, ha.
What in the heck is that, you ask? Well, each kid has a bucket. Throughout the day, whatever kid’s stuff she finds around the house, she drops in the corresponding bucket.
So if the kids haven’t put their stuff away like they’re supposed to from the buckets, she’s not touching it.
That’s pretty much it. The stuff will stay in the bucket until whoever is responsible for it puts it away. It saves her time from putting everything away all day long that’s not even hers to begin with.
Isn’t that genius or what?
After all, she’s not a maid, and she’s got better things to do. What do you think of that? Ha, ha! It might be a bold move on her part, but apparently, it actually works.
In fact, her kids actually like the idea, too.
Now, they know exactly where to find all their stuff. So if they want something they can’t find, they just check the bucket and voilà! In addition to that, the house stays relatively clean, too.
I think that’s one clever way to stop acting like a maid to your family.
After all, the mom always ends up picking up after everybody. So this mom said to herself, “F*** it, I’m not doing that.” And I, for one, applaud her for that.
As it turns out, I’m not the only one who thinks this is a good mom hack.
After Jessica posted about it on Facebook, she got a lot of responses from fellow parents. So far, her post has gotten 44,000 reactions, 39,000 comments, and 29,000 shares.
Wow, that’s a lot, huh?
Most parents have been praising her for coming up with such a cool idea. Some of them have suggested changing the name, but I love the response she gave to one of them for that, ha, ha!
Then others noted that they have heard of a similar idea before.
And, in fact, they have implemented it themselves. This lady did so in a home whose family she worked for and according to her, it worked like a charm there, too.
There was some criticism of her idea too.
Of course, anything you post online may gather comments like these too. To be completely honest, everyone has their way of doing things. This lady was just showing people how she tackles this situation in her home.
Apparently, this lady’s parents went a step further with this idea.
The parents kind of “punished” their kids by chucking everything in a bin. Then the kids had to fish everything out themselves and clean their rooms. I don’t know it may be harder to accomplish this.
This lady used the bucket idea a little differently.
She only dumped things out of it at the end of the week. I have to admit this might appeal a little more to me. Or maybe I’m just too lazy, hehe.
Then there’s this idea of color-coding the buckets. Each of them serves its purpose.
