Apparently, not one holiday can remain untouched by controversy, Christmas most of all.
Gavin and Stacey has come and gone, but the Christmas special is causing tons of controversy over a homophonic slur.
It’s definitely frosty this Christmas! Twitter is simply blowing up!
During the Christmas special, Nessa and Bryn perform ‘Fairytale of New York’.
During the song the F word is used (the slur against gay people).
So, obviously, people were really upset about the use of the word. But the stars don’t see the issue.
Ruth Jones actually spoke out about it.

“It is a different climate. But we have to remain true to the characters, to who they were.”
True…but perhaps there should have been some more sensitivity around it?
“Characters in Gavin & Stacey are kind and big-hearted, I believe. So I think no one is going to be intentionally hurtful.”

“But by the same token, they’re not necessarily going to be completely politically correct or be aware of political correctness,” she said.
Shane MacGowan even said:

“There is no political correctness to it. I’ve been told it’s insulting to gays; I don’t understand how that works.”
Yikes. That is definitely going to make people upset.
