Hearses carry those who have passed on to their final resting place. When a body fell out of a hearse into traffic, it was a shocking moment. The funeral home responsible for the incident has issued an apology. Here’s what you need to know.
Hearses have an important purpose.

A hearse is a vehicle most people expect to be secure. They carry caskets and the bodies of those have passed away. Because this is a very important and delicate job, most people assume that these vehicles are secure to ensure that accidents don’t happen.
Drivers were shocked when they encountered a body on the road.

Unfortunately, accidents can still happen. Unsuspecting drivers in Poland were disturbed and shocked when a corpse fell out of a hearse belonging to Hades Funeral Service.
One man who was driving thought he had hit someone when he saw a body lying on the ground behind him.
The hearse driver said there was a technical problem.

The driver explained that there was a technical failure on the lock. Hearses have a large back trunk area that opens with wide doors. This allows the caskets to be loaded onto the hearse. If the lock to that door isn’t working correctly, it makes sense that a casket or body could fall out while driving.
The funeral home took responsibility for the accident.

Hades Funeral Service issued an apology for what happened.
They said that they took “full responsibility” for what happened saying, “It is with deep regret that we inform you that, as a result of an unexpected technical failure of the electric tailgate latch in the hearse, an unfortunate incident occurred during the transportation of the body of a deceased person, which does not reflect the high standards of our company.”
It was an unfortunate situation for everyone involved.

Other drivers who were around during the time of the accident were understandably upset. It was also likely very difficult for friends and family of the deceased. When you entrust a loved one to a funeral home, you expect them to take care of the body.
The company also explained they were working to support the family members and ensure this never happened again.
The hearse driver offered his apology.

According to Hades Funeral Home, the driver was a long-time, experienced employee who felt bad about the accident.
Their statement also explained, “We have taken immediate steps to ensure this does not happen again, including a full technical inspection of our vehicles and additional training for our staff.”
An image of the body went around social media.

While we won’t be sharing the image here out of respect for the dead and their loved ones, a picture of the body was posted on social media. This adds to the disturbing situation. It also reminds people to be careful when choosing a company to care for their loved ones after death.
Do you think the funeral home handled this situation well?

Even when following protocol and taking precautions, accidents can happen. This incident was very unfortunate for the loved ones of the deceased and those who encountered the body on the road.
Hopefully, the funeral home will do all it can to keep this from happening again in the future.
