Sometimes our best ideas have the worst executions, and no one loves hilarious fails more than the internet.
McDonald’s Japan recently introduced a new cup design to its retail locations in an effort to celebrate a brand new summer product, but soon discovered their seemingly innocent design turns into a NSFW cartoon with the right change in angle, The Takeout reported.

Of course, once word got out about these hilarious cups, there was just no stopping the hilarious pics.
The cups were meant to promote the chain’s latest and greatest addition to its summer drinks menu: the McFizz.
Each one of these beautifully colored beverages has its own unique, refreshing flavor, served over ice. You can either get the appropriately colored Lemon Ginger, Blue Hawaii, or Blood Orange drink to sip on while you enjoy the summer season.
The marketing team over at McDonald’s Japan decided to come up with a fancy design to get people to want to try their new drinks.
They settled on using harmless, clear plastic cups decorated with one aspect of the season we can all appreciate: summer love.
Each cup features a cartoon design of a young boy and girl on either side of the cup.
When the cup is emptied, the boy and girl line up, and depending on the design, the pair either share a peck on the cheek or a kiss on the lips.
However, the design doesn’t stay innocent for too long once people start rotating the cup a little.
Thanks to some creative thinking and clever angle work from the good people of Twitter, we’re able to see this picture-perfect design transform into a naughty cartoon right before our eyes.
By the way, the cheeky wink this kid gives definitely does not help things at all.
Once word got out that these cups were capable of such inappropriate humor, people flocked to McDonald’s to pick up one for themselves.
Then they happily gulped down their beverage and got their phone camera ready while they turned the cup just right. It takes a bit of work, but soon that innocent peck on the cheek becomes something a lot more intimate than we’re sure the company ever intended.
As some online have pointed out, putting the cups in the hands of users ahead of time could have saved some embarrassment.
This is why editors and designers need to have dirty minds — they need to get the view from the gutter before the public at large gets a chance to drag a product there.
Perhaps a little surprisingly, these cups haven’t been pulled from McDonald’s locations yet.
The good and dirty-minded people of Japan can still walk into their local McD’s and order one of these drinks so that they, too, can partake in the hilarious trend sweeping Twitter.
But it seems unlikely that we’ll see these designs in North America.
Or anywhere else in the world, for that matter. But the company also hasn’t commented on the misstep of a cup design, so it looks like these things will be sticking around all summer long. Enjoy your McFizzes, ya filthy animals.
