Much like beauty, genius tends to be kind of in the eye of the beholder. This varies depending on what field someone excels in because, in some cases, what they’re doing either works or it doesn’t.
But when it comes to how people perceive each other’s creativity, it’s not unheard of for a brilliant idea to either be ignored or explicitly rejected. This happened a lot to classic artists like Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet, but it’s common in modern art, too.
After all, I’m sure by now, we’ve heard at least one person look at a piece and say, “I could’ve done that!” The classic retort, of course, being, “But you didn’t.”
However, we could never accuse the people on this list of not doing something with what they had around them, and the results are hard to argue with.
This little implement may not have had a very pleasant purpose at first, but that changed, thanks to the uploader’s grandma.

This was originally the casing for a shell used during World War II, but it now serves as her favorite flower vase.
If it feels like the chip companies are ripping you off, somebody has used their own packaging designs to confirm it.

Just by turning this bag of Doritos upside down, this clever person was able to get a perfect sense of just how few chips they bothered to include in the bag.
Sure, some air is needed to cushion the chips and keep them from breaking, but does it really have to be this much?
Figuring out what to do with a fitted sheet is one of adulthood’s little struggles, but someone just made it a little easier.

It almost feels like something we should’ve had all along, but these little tags should help explain why it just doesn’t seem to fit right when we make the bed sometimes.
Whether it’s for fun or practical reasons, there’s apparently a kit that lets you make your own floating docks.

And if you’re wondering what’s so fun about this, this photo shows just how much they can bend with the waves. So when you’re walking on one, you get rocked and tilted as each wave comes in.
Since we’re in that awkward period where things are open, but we still have to keep apart, one German café has made that a little easier.

Here at the Cafe & Konditorei Rothe , customers are given hats with pool noodles attached to them which allow them to stay six feet apart.
3D art like this is always impressive to look at, but it’s not always this fun and expressive.

My favorite part is Michelangelo looking like he’s having a blast surfing through the sewers, especially since he’s probably the only one who would enjoy something like that.
When the uploader offered to replace a broken glass shelf in his dad’s fridge, the dad simply thought it was a ridiculous idea.

After all, why send away for something like that when you can just make a replacement out of wood and slot it right in?
As you can see, that’s exactly what he did.
There are some pretty handy fixes we’ll see today, but this one has to be one of the most ingenious.

What this woman has done is take part of a treadmill and convert it into an electric roto-tiller. Apparently, it works best while on the “incline” setting.
I’m legitimately impressed they got this to work.
If you find yourself without a wheelbarrow, this person proves that all you need is some imagination.

Other than nailing some handles and stands to their makeshift creation, all they had to do was cut a garbage bin in half.
It already had the wheels, after all.
When people drove behind this guy, they were concerned that this pipe wrench was about to fall off his truck.

However, it turns out that he actually welded it on the back as a step. This led them to proclaim him “king of the rednecks,” which he seemed pretty proud of.
The uploader’s nephew somehow managed to wreck this pole, but he couldn’t keep it out of commission for long.

Thanks to some bungee cords and an already-broken baseball bat, they were able to build it back up as tall as ever.
The stand on this fan picked a terrible time to fall apart considering that it’s just started to get hot out there.

Fortunately, it only took a strip of cloth and this chair to get it back in the game.
It’s not an easy situation when the latch on your car door stops working, but this person found a way around it.

I’m not sure how comfortable it is to ride with these ratchet straps, but they at least manage to keep the doors closed.
The knob fell off of this pot lid, so the uploader’s dad found a quick replacement for it.

They were warned that this cupboard knob will feel way too hot when it’s actually in use, but that’s what oven mitts are for.
This fire pit looks pretty cool and it’s not hard to get one of your own if you like it.

All you need to do is wait for your washing machine to stop working, pull out the central drum, and add some metal legs to it.
Ta-da!
In Japan, each beer can has a Braille inscription like this on it.

That’s because cans of beer don’t necessarily feel any different from cans of soda or juice, so this serves as a warning to blind customers that they have an alcoholic beverage.
This bag of lollipops had a rip in it, but that didn’t stop the store from finding a way to sell it.

That’s right, an employee was able to staple the bag back together. Considering how much these pieces looked like they wanted to stay apart, that either took a steady hand or a lot of tries.
It’s hard to tell how long it’ll take a heating appliance to perfectly cook something and the makers of this toaster oven seem to know that.

So for that reason, they decided to add a button that says “a bit more” and I’m sure it was a very welcome addition.
When you put different soaps in the same dispenser, they can interact in some pretty wild ways.

This person was well aware of this and mixed the soaps we can see here just to create this visual effect. It looks like they got what they wanted.
If you’re wondering how to get a setup for a microphone like this, it turns out that it just takes a reflector lamp you don’t need anymore.

As the maker of this contraption said, “so apparently reflector lamps and condenser mics are the same diameter” and this revelation apparently saved them some good money.
Since this person couldn’t go to the barbershop anymore, they decided to make their own.

Thanks to a decorative mirror and some parachute cord, they were able to see what they were doing from the tub.
And once they were finished, they just had to turn on the shower head to gather all the hair. Hopefully, they plugged the drain for that part.
This person’s fix was as simple as the way they described it: “Broke my broom, fixed my broom.”

All it took was a piece of wood and some electrical tape and they were back at it like nothing happened.
That’s all there was to it.
Thanks to a mix-up with the Airbnb, this person found themselves having to construct their own workspace.

Fortunately, it turns out that they were able to make a stable enough computer desk using three particle boards they happened to find lying around.
As we can see, it’s not quite strong enough to hold the tower, but the fact that it worked at all shows how resourceful this person is.
Somebody found a handy way to take their cowboy boots out to pasture.

With a few choice cuts, they were able to turn them into some sandals just in time for that summer weather.
Hopefully, they also found a way to not make them pinch as much.
It’s clear that this umbrella has seen better days, but it would’ve been completely useless without this person’s intervention.

Thanks to some clever thinking and some clothesline, they were able to keep it open and let it block the sunlight once again.
The uploader got this gas cooker from their dad, but that’s not how any of its pieces started out.

The way they’ve aged makes it hard to tell, but those boxes used to be drink crates back in the 1960s. And the burners were made for curing tobacco, but they’ve got a much more versatile purpose now.
This person needed to find a cheap way to level out their lot and they were able to cook one up.

All it took was their ATV, a length of fence, and some logs, but they were able to get the job done.
This bedside table wasn’t as tall as this person hoped it would be, but that wasn’t a problem for long.

Thanks to their little DIY project that involved zip-tying a wooden block to it, this table could stay in the game instead of being sent back to the store.
This vending machine in Germany apparently dispenses cartons of eggs and potatoes.

Whether or not you think those make sense as vending machine items, you have to admit that whoever designed this would need some genius to keep the eggs from breaking on their way out.
This clever tie has mice on it in more than one sense of the word.

Not only does it have computer mice mingling with the animal, but they’re both subtle enough in the design that it looks perfectly business-like from a conversational distance.
Sometimes, it’s the little things that end up making the big differences for us.

For instance, this wok has some little circles included in the design so anybody cooking with it can visualize how much oil they’re going to need.
This friendly dinosaur statue has a new look that fits our circumstances right now.

We can see that is has a very large mask that I assume used to be a bag of some kind. But that mask also has its own little dinosaurs on it.
