A group of teens got the scare of their lives while out adventuring in Northern Ireland. The teens came across an apparent “nun” that shook them so badly they left the area immediately. Never fear, though, as the story doesn’t end there – it gets so much funnier. Let’s find out what happened, and be prepared for an exorcism or two!
It all started because of Randonautica

Randonautica (or Randonauting) is a fun way to explore the world around you via randomly generated coordinates. Simply add your location, get some coordinates, and head out to see somewhere new in your area!
Randonautica can be a little strange

The app (and the whole idea of Randonauting) is not without its weirdness. In 2020, a group of Randonauts stumbled across a bag with two dead bodies in it after being sent to a beach location in West Seattle. The discovery was a “shocking coincidence,” according to one of Randonautica’s founders.
On the upside, the discovery actually helped solve two murders! So that’s something.
This adventure was a little different

For this bout of Randonauting, a group of Irish teens were sent to a randomly generated location near Murlough Bay in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. They set out to visit a beautiful beach location, but found so much more.
This is a weird addition to The Conjuring universe

“POV: Randonautica takes you to the edge of a coastal cliff beside a beach and then a nun [starts] walking towards you,” TikTok user t1v37a9 captioned their viral video. Yup, that’s definitely a creepy nun! I would be running for the hills, but that’s just me. I’ve seen The Nun and The Conjuring too many times to not be slightly scared of nuns.
Someone call Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, we need an exorcism STAT.

Could it be the nun Valak, risen from hell to torment us here in the real world? Could it be a deeply creepy viral marketing stunt for The Conjuring 4? Could it be a ghost, apparition, or mimic bent on terrorizing random Irish teens?
The answer is much funnier

In true TikTok fashion, an alternate POV of the incident surfaced from the nun herself. Kelly Louise Wilding posted a video recounting her run-in with a group of seemingly terrified people who ran from her while she was out on a walk.
She said she was just hanging near the beach

”So I’m down at this beautiful little hidden beach […] it’s lashing rain and I’ve got this long, long black hood. So as I was walking up past the house, there’s a group of — it looked like teenagers, maybe mum and dad.
But they all stopped and stared because they just seen this figure, this black girl emerging from like the rocks.” She showed off an angle of her long, black coat.
She said they ran for it

“I would say I look probably quite mysterious from a distance, but they’ve all turned and they have bolted. I mean literally, they have bolted. […] I didn’t even want to shout to tell them that it was ok in case l terrified them even more. So, yeah, I am not the Black Witch of Murlough Bay.”
She eventually found the other video

Of course, the TikTok algorithm eventually did its thing, and Kelly saw the video of herself from the teens’ point of view. She thought it was hysterical and helpfully supplied the poster with some much-needed context.
She also made her own follow-up video about it

“Oh dear. This is kind of awkward. Yeah, I’m the faceless floating nun that was a terrorizing tourists. I’m sorry, I’m sorry for bursting the mysterious bubble. But I’ve had a great laugh at all the comments and watching the story unfold, but l was just a girl.”
So, there’s the story of the mysterious Irish nun! I love how small a place the world can be because of apps like TikTok. You never know who has a video of you looking like a creepy nun, you know? And there’s something magical about that.
