If you stare at weird, misleading pics long enough, you’ll eventually figure out what’s going on. But you’ll also take a long, hard look at everything for the foreseeable future to make sure it is what it appears to be.

Coins are so uniform that it’s hard to imagine the good people at the mint making a mistake. But evidently, they do mess up the stamping from time to time.

This little girl is playing in the fountain. That’s all that’s going on here. If you looked at this photo and saw something different, that’s entirely on you.

You can see some real stars in this pic, but you can also see some imposter stars — droplets of dew suspended on the ends of the blades of grass.

The flat top of the train tunnel in this pic makes this scene look like it’s actually two scenes. Look at it long enough and it all becomes obvious.

The folds of these curtains do interesting things to the beams of sun that shine through them. In this case, it makes the beam look like graffiti art.

I’m still trying to get my head around the perspective trick that must be going on here. I still don’t really see it.

To some, this would look like a typical woodgrain door. To others, it might be the visage of Chewbacca watching over anyone who enters the room.
Warm Viking cloak.
It looks like this guy has a luxurious Viking/ Game of Thrones cloak around his neck. But it’s actually just a weird dog.
Not how you apple.
Some of these apples are weirdly red on the inside. Tomatoes can be red on the inside but seeing an apple like this is a real head-scratcher.
Those angles.
This pic from Paris shows how angles can mess with pics. This house is on a hillside but if you even out the hill, it looks like the house is sinking like the Titanic .
Aerial shot?
It looks like a mountain in the middle of an autumnal forest, seen from above. But it’s actually just a shot of fungus on a fallen tree in the woods.
Wait a second.
Look at John Oliver’s tie. Looks pretty normal, right? Then look at the reflection of his tie in the desk.
Can someone tell me what’s going on here?
Fire up the barbecue.
Apparently, these are all rocks but I’m not convinced. It looks more like somebody dumped a ton of raw meat in a quarry.

How do the shadows in this box look so…pixelated? I’m trying to get my head around this one with limited success.
