I’m of the belief that every communual room in your home should have some sort of a conversation piece. You know, something a bit unusual that guests can notice upon entry and then later point to when the conversation starts to dry up a bit and they need something fresh to talk about.

This incredibly life-like couch has been lovingly hand-crafted by artist Maximo Riera to resemble the hulking mammal, from its bizarrely enlarged snout to its wrinkly, pudgy feet.
This thing will definitely get your guests talking while they perch themselves inside the hippo’s carved-out, rotund body.
The actual couch part doesn’t look particularly comfortable, but I feel like anyone who drops $95,000 on a hippo sofa isn’t exactly in it for the sitting experience.
And I’m sure the makers would sooner want you to admire its design than its comfort. According to the product description on the website , this leather couch takes over 400 hours for the artist to make “due to the intricate design and the artist’s painstaking attention to detail.”
I know, I know — the hefty $95,000 price tag has you a little freaked out, doesn’t it?
Don’t think of it as a huge amount of money being spent on a sofa in the shape of a hippopotamus. Think of it as an investment .
After all, the website says this magnificent seat will provide you with the perfect space to entertain guests “while paying tribute to the animal ancient cultures revered for its intrepidity, tenacity, and bravery.”
You just can’t put a price tag on that!

He actually has an entire collection of animal chairs in which he turns various creatures (elephants, beetles, walruses, what have you), into mildly terrifying yet still somehow beautiful pieces of art you can sit on.
