Birthdays are more special for young kids, and it’s always nice when parents can give them exactly what they want for their special day.
However, we all know that kids can be very weird. A Twitter user recently shared his six-year-old daughter’s highly unusual request for a birthday cake — along with the resulting cake.
First, we need a brief history lesson.

Fans of 16th century English history (and really, who isn’t?) will recognize this portrait as Anne Boleyn.
Boleyn was Queen of England for three years before she was unceremoniously executed for suspicious reasons.
King Henry VIII, who had a penchant for executing his various wives, accused Boleyn of treason, but it’s more likely that he wanted her gone because she was unable to get pregnant with a male heir.
What’s this have to do with anything?

Good question! Poor Anne Boleyn was beheaded nearly five hundred years ago, but her tragic tale still resonates.
A Twitter user recently shared his six-year-old daughter’s birthday request: a cake showing the beheading of Anne Boleyn.
The girl’s parents pulled through.

Dad Edmund Kingsley wrote on Twitter:
“Tomorrow we’ll have a six year old, and like so many girls her age she insisted on a cake depicting the future Queen Elizabeth I witnessing the execution of Anne Boleyn by Henry VIII”
The details are astounding.
As one Twitter user pointed out, King Henry VIII even has tiny portraits from his other wives, showing them eyeing him nervously.
Seriously, it’s one of the most detailed cakes I’ve ever seen.
Apparently this is a thing.
It feels unlikely that anyone else has ever requested an Anne Boleyn getting beheaded cake, but it’s actually been done before.
This pic shows a different, slightly more gruesome approach to the theme.
Sometimes kids are weird, that’s all.
You can see here that kids won’t always request standard-issue birthday cakes.
In this case, the motive wasn’t historical appreciation, but pure greed.
It’s…something, that’s for sure.
