Since his touching acceptance speech at the Oscars, a video of Joaquin Phoenix saving a mother cow and her calf from a slaughterhouse has gone viral, and fans are loving it!
It’s no secret that Joaquin Phoenix has been taking some serious action lately to make the world a better place.
At BAFTA , Joaquin took the time to address the “systemic racism” in the film industry — a problem that has been grossly neglected thus far.

“I feel conflicted because so many of my fellow actors that are deserving don’t have that same privilege,” he said.
“I think that’s the message that we’re sending to people that have contributed so much to our medium and our industry and in ways that we benefit from.”
“I don’t think anybody wants a handout or preferential treatment, although that’s what we give ourselves every year,” he continued.
“I think people want to be appreciated and respected for their work.”
He even pointed the finger at himself for being “part of the problem”.
“I have not done everything in my power — not all sets I’ve worked on are inclusive.”
His acceptance speech after winning the Oscar for Best Actor last night was equally as inspiring.
He made his feelings about consuming animal products very clear.
“I think the greatest gift that it’s given me, and many of us in this room, is the opportunity to use our voice for the voiceless,” he said.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about some of the distressing issues that we are facing collectively,” he continued.
“I think whether we’re talking about gender inequality or racism, or queer rights, or indigenous rights, or animal rights, we’re talking about the fight against injustice.”
“Many of us — what we’re guilty of, is an egocentric world-view. The belief that we are the center of the universe. We go into the natural world and we plunder it for its resources.”
“We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow and when she gives first we steal the baby, even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable,” he continued.
“And then we take her milk that’s intended for the calf and we put it in our coffee.”
Since then, a video of Joaquin putting his money where his mouth is has gone viral.
He literally saved a mother cow and her calf from the very thing he described in his Oscars speech.
“I never thought I’d find friendship in a slaughterhouse,” the video’s description reads.
“But meeting Anthony and opening my heart to his, I realize we might have more in common than we do differences.”
“Without his act of kindness, Liberty and her baby calf, Indigo, would have met a terrible demise.”
“Although we will continue to fight for the liberation of all animals who suffer in these oppressive systems,” he wrote.
“We must take pause to acknowledge and celebrate the victories, and the people who helped achieve them,” he added.
He went on to explain what he hopes to cultivate going forward.
“My hope is, as we watch baby Indigo grow up with her mom Liberty at Farm Sanctuary”.
“That we’ll always remember that friendships can emerge in the most unexpected places”.
“And no matter our differences, kindness and compassion should rule everything around us,” the caption concluded.
The title of the video actually reveals that Joaquin did this just one day after his Oscar win.
