I’m all for using tricks and hacks to make my home space appear more polished. If you’re like me, I bet you are always on the lookout for such ideas, too.
So I’m happy to share a simple yet super effective curtain styling trick I’ve recently discovered. Once you see it, you’ll be making some decorative changes ASAP. Let’s take a look, shall we?
Do your curtains typically look like this?
That’s pretty much the standard look. Am I right? At least that’s what they look like at my house. But wait, apparently, there’s a neat trick to make your curtains look a lot more stylish and chic.
So it turns out somebody came up with a cool way to make curtain pleats.
And all you need is some empty toilet paper rolls (or pool noodles). Say that again? Hmm, how is that possible, you ask? Well, it’s quite easy. Let me show you.
Okay, so grab your curtain and proceed to thread it through the curtain rod.
But, wait — instead of just doing it the usual way, insert a toilet paper roll on either side of the grommet. Don’t add a toilet paper roll for each grommet. Instead, alternate which grommets get a toilet paper roll. The ones without a roll will fold into a polished pleat.
Basically, the idea of this is to create a pattern of pleats when you do so.
Here’s a close-up so you can see exactly what I mean by this. Doesn’t it seem pretty simple or what? I like this so far.

Are you starting to get an idea of what the trick might be here? At first, I wasn’t sure what they were going for, but now I’m starting to get it, too.

Ta-da! what do you think of that, huh? Doesn’t it look so much better now? I honestly can’t get over this easy and simple trick. And how cheap is this to accomplish. Wow!

I’m not surprised that other folks online are as blown away by this as I am. People have been commenting on this post with such joy. It is really true when they say, “You learn something every day.”
Here’s a helpful tip from a fellow poster.
Move the rod up and out more. You want the inner part of the curtain to be at the edge of the window. It makes the window look larger and adds more light to your room when open.
One thing I do have to mention is that you shouldn’t do this with a shower curtain.
I bet there would be a lot of moisture collecting in those paper rolls. So it’s best used on curtains in the rest of the house.
If you’re wondering whether the curtains will still work properly when you do this, listen up.
You’re not the only one. Judging from these comments, I think it’s pretty safe to say they should be fine. I haven’t tried this though, so I don’t know for sure.
Apparently, there’s another trick people use instead of the toilet paper roll.

If you’re not a big fan of using the pool noodles either, folks suggested using pipe insulation tubes.
Hmm, that’s an idea too, no? These ladies have used it, and they love it. So I suppose it’s worth a try.
And if you’re not into those two ideas, then there’s always PVC piping too.
In my humble opinion, it doesn’t matter what material you use. What matters is whether you achieve a similar look. How you do it is entirely up to you.
