Raminta is the artist behind all the cute.
She wrote a piece for Bored Panda about her process, her upbringing, and why she chose to start making tiny animal sculptures.
To sum it up: she just loves nature a lot!
Nature was always a big love of hers.
“I spent my childhood surrounded by wildlife near the Baltic Sea and was always fascinated by the diversity and intricate beauty of the natural world,” she wrote on their site .
She wanted to do something different.
“I always search for a new approach to sculpting and painting, using polymer clay and acrylic paint to achieve an original visual style with these small animals.”
Take this Angler Fish, for example. I’ve never seen one so friendly!
Each one is unique.
“The process of every cute animal character development is very individual and personal, creation starts with a single ball of clay and usually takes days to complete the sculpture until it is exceptionally carefully hand-painted with a maximum of details, capturing essential attributes and traits of animal personality!” she said.
This snake is positively charming.
Rama has her own Etsy shop where she sells all her tiny clay sculptures. Her work tends to sell out in minutes, and it’s easy to see why — how precious is this Speckled Racer Snake? He can fit in the palm of your hand!
This tiny octopus glows in the dark.
Rama recently did a bioluminescent series of small sea creatures. She previously was on a six-month hiatus from social media and her sculptures before returning with her new line of glow-in-the-dark creatures.
To date, she’s made over 800 sculptures.
And she’s still innovating. This crocodile was the first crocodile she’d ever done! It took her two tries to get the design right, but she totally nailed it in the end.
Each animal is hand painted and individually glazed.
According to Rama, the glazing process can be the most stressful part of making her animals.
She has to pay special attention to not allowing dust to stick to the glaze, so she will often quite literally hold her breath while working.
She often adds celestial embellishments to her animals.
I mean, why not? Rama refers to the springtime as a more celestial time, because it’s the perfect time of year for stargazing. So she likes to paint animals with stars and galaxies around then, too!
Sometimes, she has fun inventing her own animals.
She calls these “imaginary birds,” because she didn’t base them on any one kind of bird! They’re a fun mash-up of different birds and elements from Rama’s amazing imagination.
I mean, look at this crystal whale!
Rama did a whole bunch of crystal animals in 2016, and I’m so sad I missed out on it! There’s something so perfect about pairing a whale with something as gorgeous as a crystal.
She works a little slower these days…

Rama tends to release them once she’s made a bunch of new animals that can all be sold at once.
She’s turned some of her work into enamel pins.
She occasionally releases some of her animal designs as enamel pins, but the process takes a while! She has to render the design in 2D, then chooses a color palette for the pins.
She’s also featured in a popular coloring book!
Rama, alongside other indie artists, has many of her animal illustrations featured in Lake Coloring Books.
