Building snowmen is one of the joys of the holiday for everybody, regardless of age. It’s more than a hobby for some people as they go the extra mile and add decorative pieces to the snowy figurines.
Considering the amount of time and effort it takes (not to mention the freezing ice required) to build a snowman, you wouldn’t expect anyone to ruin it for fun! However, this Reddit user and his sister experienced a killjoy in the seventies who wouldn’t leave their snowmen.
They hatched a plan to punish him and ensured he never did that again. Scroll down to read the Petty Revenge story.
The Pre-Teens Exert Revenge

The Snowman ‘Killer’ Hurt His Foot
The siblings built their snowman around a pile of fishpond rocks. They’d struggled to transport the rocks from their backyard to the front lawn, but it was worth it (the dedication!), so they didn’t mind.
After thirty minutes of trudging down the yard, they spent another few hours piling the rocks and building their snowman around it. The following day, the “snowman killer” came for his usual rounds and kicked the figurine, only to meet a shocking twist.
The siblings discovered he wasn’t alone and had a group of friends join him on his spree because they were there when he hurt his foot. According to them, everyone left their snowmen alone moving forward.
Other Reddit users shared their experiences when Petty Revenge was a deterrent against bullies.

Violent Is An Effective Deterrent Sometimes

The Adult Version Involves Mailboxes

A Never-Ending Cycle
People knocking down snowmen isn’t new and has been around for as long as building them has lasted. However, what’s more, interesting is finding out how several people exert their revenge against these snowmen’s “killers.”
Piling the snow around hard items is the first go-to, as people used fire hydrants, tree trunks, and rocks. One Reddit user equated this situation to grownups getting their mailboxes removed from their front yard. It led some people to sink metal pipes inside the ground.
Using violence as a deterrent is also more common than you think, leading to corporal punishment. However, it’s not always effective, as the perpetrator may find a way around the situation.
After that child hurt his foot on the rocks, he could’ve returned with a shovel to ruin the snowman if he wanted. Doing that indicates a deeper beef than just knocking down snowmen for fun. Perhaps he didn’t have a personal fight against the Redditor and his sister.
