Alright Disney fans, it’s finally time to hear about what happened to Elsa and Anna’s parents in the Frozen series.
Or at least, a little more about what happened to them.
It’s been the burning question since the first movie, besides the question: how did Elsa get her powers?
There are spoilers ahead, people.

So if you have yet to see Frozen 2 , put down this article, drive to the nearest theater, grab yourself a bag of popcorn, watch the movie and come back.
Oh, good, you’re back.

Alright, well, long story short: Elsa has powers because her mother was from a tribe that lived in an enchanted forest that gave her powers.
They were passed down from her, essentially.
And we know why Elsa and Anna’s parents went on the boat to begin with.

It was so they could find the origin of Elsa and her mom’s powers, which was just supposed to be a quick journey up north.
Twenty minutes, in and out, no biggie.
But, as we know, they ended up dying in that boat ride.

And in the movie, we see their corpses… kind of.
Elsa sees a frozen statue of her parents, right before the waves crashed down on them, probably killing them.
Man, that’s harsh.
