It’s been almost two years since HBO’s Game of Thrones wrapped up, but Emilia Clarke still has a soft spot for the series.
It launched her career, after all, as she was fresh from drama school when she auditioned for the role of Daenerys Targaryen.

*Game of Thrones*, who?
Ever since the hit HBO show has wrapped up, Emila Clarke has refused to be typecast.
Instead, she’s taken great strides in her career with movie roles . This began with her high-profile role in the Christmas-themed rom-com, Last Christmas opposite Henry Golding.
Then, she took on the FBI with her role in the 2019 thriller, *Above Suspicion*.
She starred opposite HBO alum, Jack Huston, along with True Detective’s Kevin Dunn and Boardwalk Empire guest star Chris Mulkey.
It’s a great film to watch if you want to hear Clarke’s Southern accent.
Most recently, it’s been announced that she’s in negotiations to join Marvel Studios’ *Secret Invasion* series on Disney+.
According to Variety , she will join the already-reported cast of Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Olivia Colman.
Jackson, for instance, will reprise his role as Nick Fury.
This project will mark the star’s first foray into the Marvel Universe, as well as her first television role since *Game of Thrones*.
Speaking of Game of Thrones , we can’t forget that her role as Daenerys Targaryen was her first major role when she was fresh out of drama school at 23.
When it came to the ending of the series after eight seasons, Clarke admitted that she, too, was upset with the finale.
This included the would-be Queen turning into a murderous tyrant like her father, The Mad King, before she was killed by her lover, Jon Snow.
“I cried when I read the scripts. It was a [expletive] struggle. My first thought was a gut reaction, and my second thought, which was milliseconds after, was, ‘What are people going to think of this?'” she said.
“I had my own feelings about it that were peppered with my feelings about Emilia. You have the growth of the character and the growth of me running along with it.” she continued .
“It had gotten to that point where people were like ‘They’re not talking about you, Emilia, they’re talking about the character.'”
She also got honest recently about the three upcoming Game of Thrones prequels.
The only one given the green light so far is House of the Dragon , which is based off of George R.R. Martin’s Fire and Blood novel.
When asked how she feels about the prequels by *Entertainment Weekly*, she had a cheeky response.
“Godspeed, everyone! You do you, you go, Glenn Coco!” she told said. “It’s just inevitable. I wish you all the best, it’s gonna be whatever it will be.”
She continued by saying that the prequels are inevitable.
“Of course they’re doing more,” she added. “You can’t create something that big and not have people go, ‘And? What else? This is really good! Let’s do loads more!”
She also extended well wishes to the upcoming House of the Dragon co-showrunner, Miguel Sapochnik.
He directed standout episodes in *Game of Thrones*, such as “Battle of the Bastards,” “Hardhome,” and “The Bells.”
“I love him completely, so I have no doubt that’s gonna be an enormous success, because he’s just a genius,” Clarke said. She also reflected on her early days of working on GoT .
“I look back at the person who was there and go, ‘You really have no idea what’s coming. You have no idea what’s about to hit,'” the actress said.
“And it was beautiful for that. We were all very much in the moment that we were in, and very unaware as to how it was going to be received, what people were going to think, who we were going to be at the end of it.”
