Buddy Valastro has been a household name for over 10 years.
Buddy is best known for starring in the hit TLC reality show Cake Boss .
The show follows Buddy and his family as they run the popular Hoboken, New Jersey bakery, Carlo’s Bake Shop.
Since finding reality TV success with “Cake Boss,” Buddy has moved onto a Food Network baking competition show with fellow pastry master Duff Goldman, “Buddy vs. Duff.”

Unfortunately, all of Buddy’s business ventures will have to be put on hold after the 43-year-old suffered a “terrible” accident earlier this week.
Posting a picture from his hospital bed, Buddy wrote: “Was involved in a terrible accident a few days ago… What do you think of my new accessory?”

He concluded the post with a series of hashtags, including #recoveryjourney, #positivevibes and #ironfist.
Buddy’s rep later reached out to *People* explaining that the reality star’s injury occurred after his hand became impaled at the Valstro family’s at-home bowling alley.

“There was a malfunction with the bowling pinsetter, a common fix in the past, but it turned into a terrible accident,” they explained .
“After trying to release the bowling pin from the cage mechanism, his right hand became lodged and compressed inside the unit,” the rep continued.

“Unable to remove his hand, he can see a 1-1/2″ metal rod slowly and repeatedly impale his hand three times between his ring finger and middle finger.”
After over 5 minutes of pain, Buddy’s sons Buddy Jr., 16, and Marco, 13, had to use a reciprocating saw “to cut through the metal rod and relieve his father from the machine.”

According to People , Buddy has since had two surgeries, the first at Morristown Memorial in New Jersey at The Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.
Thankfully, the pastry chef is now recovering at home after being released from the hospital on Wednesday.
“It will be an uphill battle as it’s Buddy’s dominant right hand and he will need prolonged recovery and therapy,” Buddy’s rep concluded.
Friends and fans were quick to leave Buddy an outpouring of support.

Duff Goldman kept things cheeky by commenting, “Get better homie. You’re gonna need that hand.”
