One Reddit user who was in the Philadelphia area shared a pic of their bar bill, which showed that, due to inflation, the establishment wanted to charge an extra 3% on top of other tips and fees. “This bar I went to in the Philadelphia area has an additional inflation tax that I can just ‘ask’ them to take off,” the user wrote, accompanied by the bill in question. If you would like this removed, we’ll be happy to do so upon request.”
In other words, people who didn’t notice or read the fine print would have to pay the charge, unless they were paying enough attention to ask to have it removed.
