The Emoji Mashup Bot Is Creating New Emotions For Every Situation

Getting emotions or gestures across in text has always been tough online, but after two decades of arguing whether or not the smiley emoticon should have a nose or not — :-) or :) — emoji came along to make everything better.

Except there never seems to be that perfect one, you know? When you can't get just that right emotion, you end up stringing together multiple emoji and hoping that the recipient doesn't think you're having a seizure.

A new Twitter account called the Emoji Mashup Bot has begun smashing together 2-3 emojis and even though the choices are random, they're surprisingly relatable!

And hilarious.

As the owner of two dogs, I feel this so much.

No matter how many bruises I get from them using my boobs as a launchpad to the back of the couch, I still love them to pieces.

The cat mashups say an awful lot about cats.

The demonic cat would be funny on its own, but that OK sign just cinches it.

Speaking of jerk cats...

I may have dogs now, but I grew up with cats and they really do get mouthy when dinner is late. Or, by gods, not early like the cat believes it should be.

Admit it, you yawned too.

This is one of those that I want to become standard. I think it works a lot better than the current yawning emoji.

I yawned four times while writing those two sentences.

North Americans are sometimes confused by the sweat drops in emoji.

But in Japan they're common in anime to show when a character is exasperated or embarrassed. Which is why this one is so on point.

Or the cake was a lie.

Admittedly, I am one of those party-goers that hovers near the food table. It's less awkward than being alone in a corner and I'm never unhappy when there's a cheese plate nearby.

This one's just funny.

Is there really a use for a hugging sun emoji in everyday life? Not really, but I can't unsee the Raisin Bran connection now.

Oof. This hits too close.

In a world where mental health has only just started to become more okay to talk about, this really speaks to me.

Every parent needs this one.

For when the angry emoji is too strong, and the unimpressed emoji is slightly too ironic.

Someone actually found an example of this one!

I feel like this is also me whenever someone tells me to smile for a photo.

This has so many moods in a single emoji.

A lot of people thought it looked drunk, but my second favorite after the Cheetos was "secretly farting in public".

Sometimes the poop emoji is just too cheerful.

This one is pissed off and ready to raise a stink.

Perhaps a bit niche, but I love this one.

This is 2019.

For when you're living in the darkest timeline and just need to get through you day without thinking about the latest disaster trending on Twitter.

Sad, but on point.

There's always that tiny part of you that worries no one will show up to your party.
