Wholesome Posts That Have Made My Mood Way Better

Nowadays, it seems like every time you turn on the TV — there's nothing but bad news to report. The world we currently occupy is living in uncertain times, fueled by fear.

Sometimes, it's enough to make you want to shut out everyone and everything around you. So if you're in need of a little pick-me-up, here are a few wholesome posts that made my mood way better.

If you give a dog a cookie...

"I'd been giving my new neighbor's dogs treats and scratches every morning when I headed out to work...this is my kitchen window when I woke up on my first day off." - Reddit u/heatharv712

Don't ever stop believing.

Never allow another human being to set expectations for you or anyone you love — most of all doctors. The strength and will of the human spirit simply can't be quantified, even when stacked against insurmountable odds.

If not for you, then do it for them.

"After I found out my girlfriend was pregnant I signed up to rehab for my cocaine and alcohol addiction and last week I became a father and picked up my 3 month[sic] coin. Best week of my life." - Reddit u/Moby-King

A real reason to smile.

After years of hiding his smile and dealing with excruciating tooth pain, Reddit user VernalPathOG was finally able to be fitted with a pair of dentures. They restored his confidence and allowed him to smile unabashedly for the first time in years.

I'm not crying — you're crying.

"I was unable to find child care for my daughter this week so we have been hanging out. Today, I took her for a 5km run/bike ride (I try to run and she bikes). Halfway, she looked at me and said “this is the best day of my life daddy"." - Twitter @fejesmg

This little guy was rejected by the police force for being "too friendly."

It breaks my heart to think that anyone could ever reject a face as sweet as this, but at the end of the day, I'm thinking it's all for the best. This is an emotional support dog if ever I've seen one.

"Enjoying a beautiful hike after finding out that there is no more stage 4 colon cancer in my body!!!" - Reddit u/thestringguru

Cancer destroys lives, tears families apart, and steals the ones we love away from us. I truly can't come up with the words to properly articulate how happy I feel for this Redditor at this exact moment.

These two dogs saved their owner's life.

A 71-year-old man was out walking his dogs when suddenly he began having a seizure. His one dog stayed closely by his side, while the other ran to get help from a crowd of people nearby.

She isn't just a baby, she's warrior.

"Before and After: my daughter battling a combination of RSV, rhino enterovirus, and bacterial pneumonia. She almost died, but she’s now home safe and sound!" - Reddit u/DeceptiKHAAAAAN

A boy and his bird.

I sure wish that some of the buzzards currently inhabiting the tree outside my office would drop the occasional dime. Considering the amount of noise they emit on a daily basis, I'd say it's the least that they could do.

"This veterinarian has a comfort-dog assistant that helps sick patients know that everything will be alright." Imgur/WOLFPAW

This is the most precious thing I think I've ever seen. That poor Lab looks so scared, it's nice to know that he has a friend to comfort him.

Despite what you've been told, you actually can choose your family.

"Today I got married and no one from my family came to my wedding because it was a gay wedding. Well, the good thing about life is that we get to choose our own family." - Reddit u/CleverSleazoid_

Forgetting to remember is one of nature's cruelest tricks.

"My 90 year old[sic] grandfather with dementia, hugging my 4 year old[sic] son. My son ran in to hug him before he left and my grandfather who cannot remember us most days said to me as he hugged him “I really love this kid, I’m glad he’s here”." - Reddit u/cowskeeper

Kind of like jumping on a live grenade.

Judging from the way that "wife" is in all caps and underlined, I'd say that this technician made a crucial miscalculation. What I would give to have been a fly on the wall during that awkward conversation.

Good luck to you!

"Proud of myself. After months of severe depression and anxiety, followed by a suicide attempt and a hospital stay, I’ve worked my ass off in therapy and now have a new job. Wish me luck." - Reddit u/reignthepain
