Boy Beats Cancer Two Years After Powerful Photo Showing Sister's Love

As so many people know all too well, a cancer diagnosis can be devastating not just for the person fighting it, but for their entire family.

After all, none of us want to see the people we love suffer through something so painful and scary, and that goes double when the afflicted family member is a child.

But while the journey that comes with a cancer battle is often overwhelming, there isn't much a family can do but keep pushing through and hoping that these dark times will one day be behind them.

Fortunately, advancements in cancer research are making that uplifting fate more likely all the time. And it's that ideal outcome that a family who once went viral for showing strength in the face of adversity is now celebrating.

On April 25, 2018, Beckett Burge was diagnosed with pre-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia at the age of four.

According to Good Morning America, he began chemotherapy soon after, which often left him feeling sick and drained.

But as we can see in a now-famous photo from that period in his life, Beckett's older sister Aubrey remained by his side through all of that journey's difficult twists and turns.

As his mother Kaitlin wrote at the time, "One thing they don't tell you about childhood cancer is that it affects the entire family."

And so, his family shared in his journey and documented his treatment progress through a Facebook account called "Beckett Strong."

This account would end up following his struggles and milestones for the next two years as supporters the world over wished him well.

But by October 15, 2021, Beckett's family was able to share the best news of all.

That's because that day marked the moment when he was able to finish treatment at the Children's Medical Center in Plano, Texas because he's now officially cancer free.

And he told Good Morning America that this is something he couldn't imagine achieving without the loving support of his big sister.

In his words, "She always stands up for me whenever I had cancer."

After this exciting news, Beckett has found himself back in school and recent times have seen him take up little league baseball.

And since his earlier struggles became so well-publicized, Kaitlin is now hoping that his positive results can inspire hope for other families going through a same situation.

As she put it, "There's light at the end of the tunnel. Keep your head up. Take it one day at a time."
