Couple's Wedding Cake Topper Sparks Debate Online

Cakes are one of the most customizable elements of a wedding — it's where couples can really show off their personalities! Gone are the days of cookie-cutter, boring wedding cakes that don't offer anything unique. Now, there are endless options of flavors, designs, and concepts. And of course, who can forget about the cake topper?

There are so many styles to pick from, and now, one couple is coming under fire for their choice.

Wedding styles can be as varied and unique as the couple tying the knot.

While some people opt for more elegant affairs, others want a more laid-back soirée. Regardless of what the couple's style is, people are going to have opinions on it.

It's 2021, after all!

While I love weddings for the love, I also love them for the cake!

I'm not picky about the type of cake I'm served — I love all flavors of cakes, all different types of icings, and heck, give me ALL of the fondants!

However, what I'm not so crazy about is cringe-y wedding cake toppers.

Many couples these days are opting for phrases or designs as wedding toppers instead of more traditional tiny brides and grooms.

However, one couple is going viral after their wedding cake topper made a lot of people kind of... sad?

The topper, which was posted on Reddit, is being called cringe by thousands of strangers online.

The topper shows the bride standing behind the groom with her arms folded while the groom is sat playing video games.

"I hate these kinds of cake toppers. Especially those ones with the bride dragging the groom or a literal ball and chain or whatever. Who is it for?" asked one user.

"Sounds like boomer humor to me," echoed another.

"I didn’t realize my ex-boyfriend became a cake topper," chimed in a different user.

"Best way to decorate the cake for the day where you celebrate your eternal love for each other is to use something that shows how much you don't actually care about each other," said another.

However, not everyone thought the topper the the worst.

"I mean, this is kind of funny. Folks need to breathe a bit. It's playful and I think jumping to someone being awful is a bit of a stretch from a single cake topper," said one user.

"Ya this is ridiculous... I like video games, I could see my wife and I getting a topper like this. It's a joke. Heaven forbid someone has to pull someone away when they get caught up in a hobby," agreed another.
