10+ Interesting Things About Kelly Ripa Fans Didn't Know

Kelly Ripa has been a household name for almost as long as I've been alive. From starring in the soap opera, All My Children, to co-hosting an iconic morning show ever since, there's no doubt that she has left her mark!

Here are a few interesting facts about Kelly that fans might not know! Let's get into it!

1. If she could co-host a morning show with anyone in the world, it would be Anderson Cooper.

In an interview with Vanity Fair she admitted that If George Wayne weren't her first choice, Anderson Cooper would be a close second.

2. She met her husband, Mark Consuelos, while filming a soap opera.

"Not only did I meet my husband doing a soap opera, we had our children during that time. It was like home for us. And the soap-opera genre launched so many careers. It’s a great training ground," she told Vanity Fair.

3. She admitted that she was never popular in high school.

In an interview with Vanity Fair she explained that in high school she wasn't considered popular, nor did she belong to any concrete clique per se.

However, she was always involved in musical theater.

4. Amid COVID-19 pandemic, Kelly hasn't had contact with two of her three children.

"I'm not talking to two of them because — just because, we're all in the same boat together, right? Like, I haven't gotten to hug my parents. I want to hug my parents. I miss hugging my parents, and my kids won't hug me," she said on Live With Kelly & Ryan.

5. She doesn't believe in burning sage.

When asked by Healthyish if there are any wellness trends she doesn't agree with, she replied:

"I’ve been given more sage to burn than most people. People really believe in the power of sage. I’m not really a sage burner. I try not to let toxicity in my life, so the need to cleanse it is very minimal."

"That goes for any level, whether it’s people or a work situation, or friendships that are bad for you."

"I just don’t allow that in my space, and therefore I just have bunches of unburned sage everywhere."

6. She also doesn't believe in keto.

"My husband has gone full keto, which I don’t mind telling you is something I could never do. I just don’t have that level of discipline. Mark says that I’m carb-o, because I always eat his bun if he gets a burger. And the fries. But you know, I work out, so I feel like I’m allowed. I’m 48, I’m entitled, and I’m eating whatever I want to eat," she said.

7. She loves the show, *Hoarders*.

"I used to watch Hoarders when it was on A&E, and I found it fascinating. After my two youngest kids finish their homework, they climb into bed with me and we watch a few episodes before bed. And then I dream about cleaning things out of my closet because I am truly also very affected by that show," she told Healthyish.

8. She wakes up around 6 AM every day.

"I wake up around 5:30 or 6 o’clock in the morning and start thinking of stories for our Host Chat segment that day — the silly, mundane, ridiculous stories like 'You should have three cups of coffee a day to make you live longer!' Then I shower and wake up my kids," she told The Cut.

9. She and her husband, Mark Consuelos, broke up briefly before getting married.

After dating for a year, Kelly and Mark broke up briefly, and got married one day after getting back together.

“We broke up and we got back together the day before we went off and eloped. Yeah, we eloped. We went to Vegas and got married," she revealed to Yahoo!.

10. She contributes a lot to the post-production of her show.

She told The Cut that she tries to stay as involved in post-production as possible without stepping on anybody's toes.

She explained that she does her best not to micro-manage her team.

11. She is a coffee drinker.

She told The Cut that it was Ryan Seacrest's girlfriend that got her hooked on making her own coffee drinks.

She secretly hopes that if she drinks the same ones as Ryan's gf, she will have long and luscious hair just like her.

"I blend it all together and have this frosty thick beverage. I have a Starbucks latte when I get to *Live*. Then I will have a half a coffee after the show wraps."

"I have a great energy level. I don’t nap, and I fear that if I did nap it would probably make me stay awake all night."

12. She and her husband text and FaceTime often because of their busy schedules.

She told The Cut that life apart can be very hard, especially considering that he films Riverdale at very odd hours.

While that may make their lives harder, they do what they can to make sure they keep talking while apart.

13. Her go-to midnight snack is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

In an interview with Healthyish, Kelly admitted that she often reaches for a bedtime snack, and when she does, it's usually a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
