10+ 'Gilmore Girls' Mistakes Fans Didn't Notice

Gilmore Girls fans are hardcore. We've binged the series multiple hundreds of times and pride ourselves on acing every trivia quiz about it.

But that's all about to be tested with this list of 10+ mistakes fans didn't notice.

If you don't know them all, that's okay. Pour yourself a cup of coffee and grab a slice of pizza to get through it — Lorelai and Rory would.

This coffee continuity mistake:

The WB

It was awkward enough for Lorelai, Rory, and Max to be having breakfast at Luke's without this mistake.

But their coffee cups change from red to blue and Max's coffee cup even changes places.

Kirk was once someone else:

The WB

When we first met Kirk, the man of many jobs, he introduced himself as Mick.

At the time, he was a DSL installer who was sent to Lorelai’s house in Season 1. Later, he was changed to Kirk.

There was missing snow:

Rory clearly didn't inherit her mother's love for snow.

When Rory arrived back at her mom's house after spending the night at her grandparents' in "Love and War and Snow," not a single snowflake from the snow was on her.

There were not 1,000 yellow daisies in Max's proposal to Lorelai:

The WB

The show’s co-creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, told Entertainment Weekly:

“A thousand yellow daisies actually sounds like a lot. But when you put a thousand yellow daisies in a big room, like our set, it's kind of like a table arrangement.”

This hand in the door frame:

Movie Mistakes

After Jess arrives at Principal Merton's office to get the bad news that he's flunking out of school, you'll see a crew member's hand slowing the moving door.

Let's hope they didn't get it caught.

Visible film equipment:

The WB

Holding up those boom mics must be tiring since someone dropped one into a shot.

This happened when Rory asked her mother to get her out of the infamous Friday night dinner so that she could celebrate her three-month anniversary with Dean.

Luke's Diner looks different in the pilot:

No, you're not crazy. This happened since the pilot episode was actually filmed in a town near Toronto.

The rest of the series was filmed in the Stars Hollow town that was built at the Warner Bros. studio.

Miss Patty's earrings disappear:

Movie Mistakes

In "The Breakup" episode with Rory and Dean, Miss Patty is wearing earrings when she goes to talk to Lorelai.

But they vanish when she says how bad she feels for setting them up.

Cinnamon's gender change:

The WB

When we were first introduced to the furry child of Morey and Babette, he was referred to as a male.

But when he sadly passes away, everyone was saying the cat was female. Talk about confusion!

The continuity error with Jess's dad abandoning him:

The WB

First, Luke said that Jess's dad left when he was 15.

But when we get introduced to Jimmy, Luke says that he abandoned Liz (Luke's sister) as soon as Jess was born. So, which is it??

Lorelai's baby photos:

When Rory asked Emily for baby photos of Lorelai, she made it perfectly clear that Lorelai had burned all of them.

Yet, in a Season 1 episode, Richard, Emily, and Rory were flipping through old photos of Lorelai.

Dean's mom had different names:

When Dean got engaged to Lindsay, it was announced in the paper as such: "Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lister announce the engagement of their daughter Lindsay Ann to Dean Forrester, son of Randy and Barbara Forrester."

Yet, Rory later calls Dean's mom "May."

Jason never returned from the bathroom:

Maybe he was, uh, having some trouble in there?

Regardless, this mistake took place in the episode of Lorelai test-running her new inn. After he went to the bathroom, Luke and Lorelai ended up kissing for the first time.

This green tape on Sookie and Lorelai:

When they went to visit the flower market, both were seen wearing green tape on their jackets.

While this could be a sign that they had paid to get into the market, it was likely a green marker for the crew.

Lane's confusing religion:

Mrs. Kim was intense about being a Seventh-day Adventist But Lane asked Rory to set up a date for her with Todd on a Sunday, after church.

This doesn't make sense since the religion attends church on Saturday, not Sunday.

Alex Lesman's disappearance:

The WB

In case you forgot, he was the guy that Lorelai dated for a bit after first meeting him with Sookie at a class about running an inn.

While they date for a few episodes, he's never heard or seen from again after she kisses Max.

The amount of rooms at the Dragonfly Inn:

Netflix

For someone who loved her inn, Lorelai sure didn't know how many rooms she had.

In the Season 4 episode "Luke Can See Her Face," she mentioned rooms 10, 12, and 15 needing work. But in that season's finale, she said that she only had 10 rooms.

Richard Gilmore’s mother was resurrected:

The WB

She was referenced as being dead in the third episode of Season One, but that all changed in episode 18.

We're glad she came back, as she brought things full-circle by playing Emily's disapproving mother-in-law.

This pizza continuity mistake:

The WB

During "That Damn Donna Reed" episode in Season 1, Lorelai, Dean, and Rory are eating pizza. But after both Lorelai and Rory grab a piece, the pizza is shown as complete again.

Can we get the secret to never-ending pizza?

The reflection of the crew member:

The WB

When Luke visits Lorelai to inform her that Jess is gone, he sadly expresses that he feels like he failed Jess.

When he's speaking, you can see the camera's reflection on the window behind Lorelai.

Lorelai is on the phone with Richard:

The WB

Once she gets off the phone with him, the camera cuts to the bakery.

You can see the camera moving in the reflection of the chrome display case.

Emily is calling out for Lorelai during a flashback.

The WB

While she is doing this, you can see that, in the background of the shot, very clearly, a crew member in a white short-sleeved shirt is walking by.

It's awful but hilarious.

Rachel in the storage room:

The WB

While Luke and Lorelai are talking about Rachel, the scene is shot in the storage room.

Once Lorelai places the jars on the shelf, they keep changing positions or disappearing and reappearing between shots.

April's hair sample:

The WB

When April and Luke meet for the first time, she grabs a hair sample and takes his photo.

She then puts the camera in her pocket, but in the next shot, the camera is in her hand again.

Marshmallows and chocolate syrup:

The WB

While Lorelai is eating marshmallows covered in chocolate syrup, the amount of the marshmallows in the bowl keeps changing.

The same thing happens in the bag next to her.

Sookie is reunited with Joe:

The WB

In this scene, when Lorelai pours herself some coffee, you can see between shots that the cup appears and disappears in her hands.

She just couldn't decide whether or not she really wanted it.

Rory's cast:

When Rory goes to New York to visit Jess, throughout the episode you can see that her cast disappears and reappears at various points of the episode.
