Law & Order fans, rejoice! Christopher Meloni is reprising his role as the fan-favorite 'Elliot Stabler' in a new Dick Wolf spinoff series.
Upon hearing the news, former castmate Mariska Hargitay took to social media in order to help spread the good news, as well as welcome back her longtime friend and colleague to the NYPD.

A rough around the edges, hard-nosed street cop with a penchant for beating on bad guys.
'Elliot Stabler'was a relatable and conflicted character.
He did things his own way, which would often land him in hot water with the department 'Brass'.
Fans were livid at 'Elliot Stabler's' off-screen retirement.
Show supporters felt that their beloved character deserved more.

A recent announcement confirmed that Christopher Meloni would indeed be reprising his old role of Elliot Stabler in a new Law & Order spinoff series!

Mariska plays Detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU.
During Stabler's tenure with the NYPD, he and Benson were partners.
