There’s nothing worse than the feeling you get when you think you’re about to be in trouble . That’s probably why we avoid breaking the law (that, and having a moral compass. I guess .).
But there are some things that feel wrong that… aren’t. So when Redditors were asked, ” What feels illegal, but isn’t ,” you better believe they had answers.
“Pulling your pants down when you have 2 pairs of pants.” – PolyGonePie

Funny enough, my time wearing snow pants in the winter as a kid have made it so I don’t give it a second thought. But I guess it is kind of weird.
“Driving next to a cop at the speed limit.” – Zynse

I once heard that police cars drive a little fast on purpose because people always slow down when they see them… Being next to one, though? Seems pretty scary.
“Being at a red light next to a Police officer.” – TheTastySpoonicorn

When you glance over and see that the cop is staring back at you… oh man. I guess just make sure you don’t start driving until after the light changes to green.
“Using a bathroom for disabled/handicapped people.” – Feisty-Key-5250

Especially since not all disabilities are visible, and people will always judge you if you use the accessible stall. But don’t worry, no one’s gonna break into the stall and drag you out of there or anything.
“Reading a book completely in book store then not buying it.” – SuvenPan

I… genuinely didn’t know people did this? Like, a whole book? But I guess no one can get you in trouble for reading, even if you’re in a book store.
“Staying signed in to your s/o streaming accounts after breaking up.” – whovianPerfect95

All I’m gonna say is, if your ex didn’t have the forethought to change their passwords on every shared account they pay for, then they can’t really complain.
“Using conditioner first.” – bringteahoe

Wait… people do this? Aren’t they afraid that the shampoo will dry their hair out too much if they do it last? Wow, you really learn new things about the world every day.
“Revealing spoilers of a movie or show.” – tripler1983

Thanks to the internet, it’s really hard to avoid spoilers. No matter how hard you try. Some people even spoil shows and stuff on purpose, because they like being on the top of people’s enemies lists.
“Smuggling your own (non-alcoholic/hot) snacks into the cinema.” – GucciGingo

I mean, they don’t like it. But I also feel like they don’t care that much.
I once smuggled chicken nuggets into a movie. No one noticed or cared. It was awesome.
“Leaving the hospital after having your first baby!” – princess-consuela-bh

Yeah… imagine having a baby, not having any experience being a parent, and then just walking out with that baby after a few days. Doesn’t seem like it should be allowed, and yet literally every parent does it.
“Turning the backseat light on while driving at night.” – witchybitch2006

Especially since all of our parents told us it was illegal when we were kids. Nope. It’s just annoying. And it still feels wrong to have it on at any point in time.
“Being underdressed in a fancy store.” – Warm_Sir_1599

You never realize your sock has a hole in it until you go to a really nice shoe store, and then take your shoe off to try a new one on…
“Going in a store then leaving without buying anything.” – Eastern_Animal_8799

Not so much at a big box store or anything, but when you go to a small store and leave empty handed… just feels wrong. The owners are also probably judging you.
“Pouring in milk before the cereal.” – Warm_Sir_1599

People who pour the milk in first are probably evil. They at least have their priorities out of order. Cereal first, or just eat the cereal dry. Those are the only two options, I’m afraid.
“Turning right at a red light.” – viking_of_the_month

I think it actually might be illegal, or at least highly frowned upon, in some places. Like, I’ve seen out-of-towners totally stop at a red light when they had plenty of chances to turn. So weird.
“Facebook stalking. I can just look up anyone I want on Google and find out a lot in a matter of minutes??? How is this real???” – somegoodolreddit

It really makes you think twice about what kind of info you leave on the web, huh.
“Picking up BBQ tongs and not clicking them twice.” – Obi_Schrimm

This is one of those things that you just have to do. Like, it’s basically impossible to pick up a pair of tongs and not click them at least once.
“Getting a haircut from someone other than your regular hairdresser.” – T-Muffin

Yeah, it definitely feels wrong to go anywhere but your regular hair dresser. But it’s not like they’re going to know, and come into your new shop with tears in their eyes. Right?
“Taking a sick day from work.” – CGoode87

It’s pretty telling if people feel guilty for being sick. Like, you can’t really control that kind of stuff (for the most part). And it’s only worse when you know of other people who are actually faking.
“Eating food at the grocery store, as long as you pay for it on the way out.” – Cheap-Raccoon-3413

It’s definitely not illegal, but it’s still so weird. The people who do this have more confidence than the rest of us, that’s for sure.
