Any good picture can be made even better with a good backstory. Not every picture comes with that backstory, though, even though some of them probably should.
Luckily, that isn’t the case with these amazing pictures. They all have a bit more context, and that transforms them from “just a picture,” to these pretty amazing stories. Yeah, they’re pretty neat.
“My girlfriend got her first book published!”
Honestly, having you first book published is, like, a huge accomplishment. And being able to share that with the people you love most in the world? That’s got to be icing on the cake.
“The Classic VW bug. I’d still drive it with pride.”
See, I don’t know if I’d be able to drive this car with pride. But just knowing that someone out there got to use it for however long they did is still pretty cool.
“After 30 years of mortgage payments. I paid it off today. It’s all ours.”
Just like publishing a book, paying off your mortgage and owning your house outright is a huge accomplishment. Most of us can only dream of being able to do this.
“Steph Curry hugs his mom after breaking the 3pt record.”
Yeah, I guess if anyone had any doubts that Steph Curry is one of the best basketball players around right now, this just quashed them. It must’ve been almost as cool to be an audience member at the game.
“My home street this morning 8:45am. Today sunrise 10:09 am and sunset 2:25 pm.”
Don’t you jut love winter? Sure, snow is pretty and all. But the short days are killer. Let’s bring back the sun, pretty please with a cherry on top.
“Christmas joy for the kids on the last day of school this Friday!”
Let’s face it, no matter where you live, the past couple of years have been pretty rough. Kids have had it pretty bad, too, of course. But who knows, a little gift like this on the last day of school before winter break might be enough to make their days.
“Super hero shows up to lend a hand in clean up efforts. (Bowling green).”
Yeah, those tornadoes that just touched down were devastating. But it is really nice to see people in the community swinging by to help. Not all heroes wear capes (even if this little on is wearing a Spider-Man suit).
“My foster pup, Jon Snow, relaxing and enjoying the Christmas lights.”
I’m always in awe of the people who can foster pets. I don’t know that I’d be able to do it without getting attached to every dog or cat that comes to my home. But they all deserve a chance at happiness.
“Moved in at the start of December. 206 years old. I still can’t believe we get to live here!”
It may be a long road to pay off the mortgage, but getting your foot in the literal door is still such a great feeling. Being a homeowner is something anyone can be proud of.
“My first cross stitch is also my partner’s surprise Xmas gift!”
Well, it’s shaping up to be a very beautiful gift that I’m sure anyone would love to get from their partner. It’s always nice to see people trying out new things.
“My dad and my son playing on the shore – Azilda, ON, CA.”
Sometimes, even a mundane moment can seem really special. I feel like a lot of that special feeling in this case is because of the lighting, though. Still, it’s a really wholesome scene.
“Me and the world’s unhappiest Christmas tree and the smallest reindeer.”
To be honest, it doesn’t look like the dog really loves wearing that costume anymore than the cat does. But it was still nice of both of them to pose for this picture.
“I’m a Yankee who moved to South Carolina a few years ago. I love having a palm in my yard.”
I always wondered what people who celebrated Christmas in warmer climates decorated instead of pines and stuff. Now I have my answer. So cool!
“Trying to improve employee positivity with my staff. I work in a hospital and it’s been a long 2 years.”
Yeah, I can imagine that being a hospital worker is super stressful right now. But who knows? Maybe something as small as this could be enough to put smiles back on the staff’s faces.
“I am the Grinch that stole Christmas! My newest cosplay was a success.”
For a split second, I couldn’t tell which Grinch was the person in costume, and which one was the decoration. They’re giving two very distinct Grinch vibes, but Grinch nonetheless.
“My dog thinks it’s a matter of finding the right toy to get me to play with her.”
I’m not going to lie, I’m a little curious as to whether or not this dog also knows how to put all her toys away. But at the very least, she knows how to get her owner’s attention.
“Step-sister is stewardess and sent me this, flying through the northern lights.”
Now that’s one breathtaking view! If I didn’t know any better, I’d be worried about the pilot’s ability to fly the plane without being distracted (don’t worry, I know autopilot exists).
“First time painting since 3rd grade. Love the outcome, and will be painting more often.”
It just goes to show you, you don’t need to have been a master painter for years to pick up a brush and see what happens. Anyone can do art, and anyone can produce amazing paintings like this one!
“11pm in Northern Utah. No lights, no flash. Just moonlight enhanced through snow cloud cover.”
Yeah, winter may mean less light in the sky, but that doesn’t always mean things are dark. Snow is a strange and wonderful thing. It can even make the middle of the night seem a little brighter.
“I put my Talkboy out every year for Christmas. It still has the original content from 1993.”
I’m not gonna lie, I’ve never heard of a Talkboy before now. But, this thing seems really cool. It must be full of so many precious memories from decades ago.
(Editor’s note: As an elder Millennial, I feel the need to acknowledge that the Talkboy is iconic thanks to Home Alone 2 and that I feel very old right now.)
