Online dating can be a bit of a nightmare, for more reasons than one. If you’re feeling a little bit worn-down on the concept of dating apps, these stories will hopefully make you feel a little bit better about your own experiences. When it comes to online dating , someone always has it worse!
1. “I matched with a guy who I developed a deep emotional connection with really quickly,” shared one person, who revealed that he asked them to move to Florida with them after only a week.

“When I declined, he decided not to go because he wanted to see where things would go with us. Red flag #1. We moved on from that and then a week later he started calling me up drunk saying I was too good for him and deserved better,” KCBusta shared. “He finally admitted to me that he was selling heroine and had no way out.”
2. Mom knows best?

Reddit user McConnells_Neck shared their own horror story, which proves that a guy who treats his mom nicely might not be the walking green flag you think he is. “It ended up being a double date with his mom and her OkCupid date. He told me that he and his mom were a “package deal”. I was mortified and there was no second date,” they shared .
3. “I matched with this one guy on Tinder and he seemed super sweet. According to his bio, he was an accountant in downtown New York.”

An anonymous user told Buzzfeed that they decided to go to an Italian restaurant for dinner, but he stopped them before they entered. “He tells me that dinner was served while pointing to a dumpster! To make matters worse, he took out an old takeout container of pasta and started eating it. I was so disgusted and shocked, but I had no ride, so I said that I had to use the bathroom,” they revealed, stating that the restaurant called them an Uber after they went inside.
4. Some people take moving quickly to a brand new level.

Reddit user Transformwthekitchen shared that while on a date, “he got drunker and drunker and started telling me he loved me, joking at first but getting increasingly serious. As we left he asked me to marry him, I kind of laughed it off, and was like “maybe we take it slow, we just met each other.” He got so mad he stormed off and left me on a street corner. Then as soon as he got home (it was 5 pm) he started texting me “come over.” And “I miss you.””
5. “I met up with a guy on Tinder and it seemed to be going okay. We went back to his apartment for drinks and he excused himself for a moment, then returned to the living room naked.”

“Full on naked. I ran back to my car and met up with a friend at a bar but I ended up meeting the guy I’ve been with for the past five years from running out of that apartment and meeting up with my friend, so it didn’t end all bad,” shared amberhendricks85 .
6. Dad jokes don’t work for every dad.

“My Dad had been on match for about three months with some success,” shared geewhizitsanxiet y on Reddit. “One weekend he got sent his first “nude” which he thought had strange, but brushed it off. Later that week he got six more nudes from the same woman. Before he blocked her, he decided that he would open them just for kicks.”
“The woman was standing in her bra in front of a mirror…”

“…with a bunch of herbs shoved in her bra. Basil, parsley, thyme, all that good stuff. The caption on the picture was ‘spice rack.’ She was swiftly blocked after my dad stopped laughing long enough to find the block button.”
It was a bold strategy — too bad it didn’t pan out!
7. “We met at a wine bar and he immediately told me he had multiple other dates scheduled for that same day.”

“He then claimed he could communicate with dolphins in a special language and proceeded to lecture me because I did not practice transcendental meditation,” shared an anonymous user.
Who says there aren’t any interesting guys out there anymore?
8. “A few years ago I was dating this girl and her father REALLY hated me.”

“Anyways, her parents got divorced, we broke up a few months later etc etc,” wrote therealJayT on Reddit . “Fast forward to around a year later. Me and girl from Tinder were dating for a few months and things were starting to get serious. We’re at the point where she wants me to meet her family. Mother, step father, little sister. Why not? I have no problems meeting them, lets do it i said. She told me how excited her step dad was to meet me.”
As you might’ve predicted, he finished his post with, “If it wasn’t the same asshole father of my ex girlfriend…”
9. Consider me notified.

“Got a Tinder notification on my phone…realized I don’t have Tinder and was holding my girlfriends phone,” wrote JazzFan419 . In another comment, they explained they took the liberty of replying to some of the matches on the app. Now that’s one way to do it.
10. “I matched with a guy who seemed OK, and when I read his profile, there was nothing that stuck out as a red flag.”

“However, his first message to me was, ‘I can tell a woman’s bra size just by looking at a photo.’ Then, he said what my bra size was. He was completely wrong, and I blocked him,” shared kayblu02 . Honestly, I’d have been more worried if he was RIGHT.
11. “I started talking to this really sweet guy for about two weeks and things were going well.”

“Then I started getting calls from this girl, who he claimed was his crazy roommate that was in love with him and kept trying to get him fired from jobs. Turns out, she wasn’t the one lying, she was actually his live-in girlfriend, and they had moved here together from a different state. Apparently he wasn’t actually a citizen, and was trying to obtain papers. Thanks, Tinder,” shared a Reddit user .
12. “The night before we agreed to meet for coffee he admitted he was actually in the open-air prison in town. He said it was for fighting. I didn’t cancel because I thought what harm could one coffee do?”

“Date was OK; he showed me his scars where he had been stabbed whilst in prison. We didn’t arrange a second date, but he messaged afterward from a different number, and WhatsApp showed his full name. I googled him, and it turns out he’s been in prison for murdering two people when he was 17. He was 35 now and out on one-day release.”
I suddenly feel a lot better about being single.
