Leaving your phone around your kids today can be a very dangerous decision. With kids becoming so knowledgable about technology, they can change things without us knowing at all.
iPhones and iPads are becoming second nature to toddlers.
They know how to find everything they want — from songs, to games, to the camera.
Sometimes, without us knowing, they can make major changes.
Once kids change names, photos, apps — it’s hard for us to figure out what they’ve done without going over every little detail on our phones and tablets.
Recently, one mom learned the hard way that her daughter switched things up on her cell phone.
While leaving her phone unattended, her daughter managed to embarrass her completely — but not until it was too late.
Lauren Brown, Senior District Manager at ADP, shared her story on LinkedIn.
She shared a post saying: “In case you’re wondering how my career is progressing, my daughter asked #Siri to call me “P**p Your Pants” which I didn’t realize until I was copied on an email to a client. Let this be a cautionary tale to all you working parents!”
That’s right—her name on her professional email was turned to “P**p Your Pants.”
Imagine how embarrassing it must be for her to have a client see this?!?
She then discovered her entire phone was programmed with “P**p Your Pants” as her new nickname.
She obviously changed it immediately, but not before everyone had seen it on the email chain.
As it turns out, it’s not uncommon that kids mess with parent’s phones.
One commenter said: “My daughter did this to my dad. He’s 72 and drives for Uber and barely knows how to use his iPhone. A passenger had a question and my dad felt proud saying, ‘Oh, I’ll ask Siri.’ When he did, she said, ‘Here is what I found online for you, Lady Lumps.’ He was so embarrassed. And it wasn’t until after he called me did he learn what lady lumps actually are! Needless to say, the passenger cracked up laughing.”
Apparently, kids love to mess with Siri on iPhones.
Another commenter added: “Oh my goodness my son did this to me!!! He told Siri to call me ‘jiggly b**t.’ I didn’t know whether to be mad or proud that he got me.”
Embarrassing parents is the best.
Sometimes, they even call clients. “My daughter called up one of my clients and went on about how she likes muffins. She’s 3. I’ll make sure to lock my phone next time!”
A lesson learned for parents everywhere…
Make sure you disable Siri or put a password on your phone.
Unless, of course, you want to end up as “P**p Your Pants!”
Kids, they do the darndest things!
