When it comes to relationships , we oftentimes cannot help who we fall for. While we may have a type, or a specific thing we are looking for, we cannot always help who wins our hearts over. Sometimes, it happens to be where you least expect it and in someone you never saw coming. And, there can be some problems you face with the person—but if your love is strong , nothing else truly matters.
Sarah and Darin are one couple who know this all too well.
Sarah and Darin are your average couple who, like many people in the 2020 pandemic era, met online. However, the two have one slight difference that causes many people to look at them differently—they have a 28-year age gap.

Sarah is 26 and Darin is 54.
Although the couple has a 28-year age gap, both parties claim that “it’s as though there is no age gap at all.” The two never really worried about the age gap between them and instead, focused on all of the things they have in common and connected on.
The couple met on YouTube.
Sarah had begun her own YouTube page called ” YOUR IDEAL SELF ” after her day-time job wasn’t really “fulfilling her” much. Darin had also started his own YouTube page, DOG GUY DARIN , where he shared tons of tips about dogs and products, as well. The two connected online after Sarah had left a comment on Darin’s video.
Neither party was “looking for a relationship.”
At the time, neither Sarah nor Darin were looking for “love.” The two began as platonic friends, sharing their hobbies and their interests together. However, all of the conversations led them to love and romance—meeting in person for the first time in November 2020.
They built a strong connection.
“We connected on music, politics, religion (or lack thereof), writing, animals, poetry, and our shared wanderlust. We spoke every day, sent lullabies to each other each night via email, and worked out together on video chats every other day,” Sarah said.
After talking online and video chatting constantly, they met in person.
Both Sarah and Darin lived in different states, however, Darin drove all the way from Missouri to Michigan to meet Sarah in person for the first time. They went horseback riding and even shared their very first kiss.
After two “dates” of hanging out, Sarah had a surprise.
The two went out again, in person, in December 2020. Then, Sarah decided to do something she knew she wanted—she proposed. Knowing she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him, by the end of January, the two were married.
Sarah says that despite their age gap, she is inspired by his “young at heart” energy.
“When I’m with him, I don’t see or feel the age difference. I just see someone with the same values as me and the same purpose. I’m glad to be with someone who wants the same things as me and dreams as big as me. The future is bright with Darin,” Sarah said .
Sarah says that even though people have judgment, she doesn’t really care.
“Some people immediately say it will never work – that Darin will get old and I will have to take care of him or he will die and leave me alone, but those things can happen in any relationship,” Sarah said.
The two are happily living together in Missouri, where Darin was living.
Sarah moved to Missouri to live with her now-husband. And, the two are “defying” others’ expectations and making their happy, loving relationship work. The two share a YouTube channel, an Instagram page, and even an OnlyFans account together. They also have a Podcast .
And, as for age-gap relationships, Sarah says to ignore the haters.
“We also want to host a show featuring other age-gap couples and success stories to normalize relationships like ours.
Don’t give in to haters or negativity,” she says .
