15 Stories About Toxic Mother-In-Laws I Can't Stop Reading

Getting married is a beautiful and meaningful moment in a person's life. Finding someone to spend the rest of your life with is truly beautiful. But, many people forget that you're not only gaining a husband, you're also gaining an entire family. And, that brings in your in-laws. Sure, some in-laws are great. But, other in-laws are true nightmares that we can't believe are actual people.

Like, these nightmare mothers-in-law.

Too much information on that one.

My husband and I went to visit my MIL at her house. She had moved into my hubby's old room and was showing us the changes she made. We sat on the bed to talk to her and, I kid you not, she said, 'You know what I did in this bed? I masturbated,' shared one person.

That's just wrong.

One Reddit user shared that her husband actually snuck his mother into the delivery room while his wife was giving birth.

And, the woman was not happy with having her MIL in there during such a private and intimate moment.

No boundaries over here.

"Within the first 15 minutes of meeting my mother-in-law for the first time, she casually whipped out her boob and started to show me a strange mole she was concerned about. Then, she went into great detail about the vaginal mesh she had put in," shared another.

That's one way of making someone uncomfortable.

Another woman said that her mother-in-law wanted her to have kids so badly, that she gave her a stocking full of baby items and gifts for Christmas, even though she was not pregnant.

Talk about putting the pressure on.

Clearly, she doesn't beat around the bush.

"On the way out the door to go to the rehearsal dinner for my wedding, my MIL patted my stomach and asked if there was “something I wanted to let everyone know" about why we were getting married, implying I looked pregnant," shared one person.

Huge insult to the wife!

One Facebook user said that her mother-in-law showed up to Thanksgiving dinner with her own "version" of the same dishes that she had made.

And, when she commented on it, her MIL said, "we don't have to put yours out, do we?"

Ouch!

That's just shady business.

"My MIL keeps in regular contact with several of my husband's exes through Facebook and will call them with updates, despite him telling her to stop. She even tried to reunite my husband with one particular ex who had cheated on him," another person confessed.

A contract? For babies? What?

Another woman shared that her MIL gave her and her fiancé a contract before the wedding, asking them to agree to have only one child.

And, if they did, she'd pay for their entire wedding. Talk about controlling and overbearing.

Yes, Dr. MIL. Thank you.

"My MIL told me in front of my own mother that I needed to have sex with her son seven days a week and I need to have an orgasm at least five days a week in order to get pregnant," another woman added.

Social media MILs are the worst.

"After I married her son, my MIL posted a bunch of my wedding pictures with nasty comments.

Things like, 'the cake, which no one ate,'

'the whole family, plus the bride,'

'this is the only picture of the original six' (her and her kids).

She posted all of it publicly on Facebook," another said.

Some MILs are just awful at being considerate.

Another woman shared that her MIL planned her baby shower and decided to ignore the fact that she had a gluten allergy.

All the food there was Italian and had tons of gluten, and the cake also had gluten in it. Nothing at all she could even eat.

She cares about the cat more than the grandchild.

"I was a first-time mom and worried about our cat smothering the baby, so I wrote a post on Facebook asking if anyone could take the cat on a temporary basis until the baby could roll.

My MIL saw it and publicly posted on her Facebook that I was a horrible pet owner and unfriended me," one other DIL wrote.

Cameras? Are you kidding me?!?

A DIL said that after being in labor for four days, she found out that her MIL had filmed her labor and delivery. To top it off, she showed random strangers the video and it was highly personal and intimate. WHAT?!

It's the audacity for me.

"While I was in the hospital giving birth to my son, my mother-in-law attempted to redecorate my house. She removed the art I had hanging on my walls and replaced it with art from her house. I came home with a newborn to see her thrift store crap hanging on my walls," another added.

This just takes the cake.

As if MIL stories were not bad enough, one DIL shared that to her own wedding, her MIL showed up in a wedding dress.

Nothing says "I'm here to ruin your entire day" more than a woman showing up in an actual wedding dress to someone else's wedding.

YIKES.
