Mother-In-Law Sparks Heated Argument For Wanting To Wear Wedding Dress To Son's Wedding

Planning a wedding can be a very stressful time in a person's life. However, it is also supposed to be one of the most exciting times of your life as well.

Sadly, one bride-to-be's future mother-in-law did not get the memo about the latter, and took it upon herself to be as obstreperous as possible in the lead-up to the wedding by announcing that she was wearing her own wedding dress to the ceremony!

This strange story of perhaps the most entitled mother-in-law ever was recently posted to Reddit.

One individual posted the story to Reddit's subreddit r/weddingshaming which is, as you can probably imagine, a place for people to share their wedding horror stories.

Between planning the venue and the catering, one bride-to-be probably did not expect the most testing moment of the wedding build-up to come from their future mother-in-law. And yet, people can surprise you in all manner of ways!

It all started when the bride-to-be heard that their MIL had chosen a dress for the wedding.

However, the dress that their mother-in-law picked out for the wedding was not as conventional a dress as you may imagine.

It turned out that she wanted to wear her own wedding dress.

The bride-to-be was as polite as they could be regarding the revelation. Although, they did feel the need to suggest that a different dress may be slightly more appropriate.

But that suggestion did not go down too well...

The mother-in-law's nuclear reaction to this very reasonable request caused quite the stir when it was posted to Reddit, with people leaping to the defence of the unfortunate bride-to-be for having been put in such a position.

The internet was not too pleased about the MIL calling the bride-to-be a "skank."

Some of the most vehement responses came in the forms of:

"I think if my MIL called me a skank I’d be declining to contact her ever again." — vetinthecity

"This poor woman and her fiance need to decline her money, elope and never speak to her again. Oof." — _littlebee

"The hilarious part of it is that the dress is like 30 years out of style. It looks tacky and incredibly dated. I'd plan my whole wedding to make sure that she looked (and felt) ridiculously out of place." — The_Ramenista

There were some people who had slightly more "creative" solutions to the problem.

One of the most creative solutions was, "I'd be really petty and ask every woman attending to wear a white dress. And then go out and get a colourful wedding dress!"

Sometimes you have to improvise and adapt to the situation you've been dealt!

How would you have handled this wedding-gown catastrophe?

The fact that the MIL wanted to wear the wedding dress in the first place was, naturally, weird. However, the fact that she called her son's fiancé a "skank," is just completely out of order.

Here is to hoping that they get this very difficult situation sorted out before the big day. And, be sure to let us know how you would have handled this situation!
