Singer and songwriter Taylor Swift has reportedly been subpoenaed in Blake Lively’s legal battle against her It Ends With Us director and co-star Justin Baldoni.
The battle started in December 2024 and the two are due in court in March 2026.
Baldoni’s lawyer requested Swift’s presence
A report by TMZ has revealed that Justin Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, was the one to request Taylor Swift as a witness in the legal battle between his client and Blake Lively.
It all started in December
The on-going legal battle started when 37-year-old Lively sued Baldoni, 41, in December, claiming that he sexually harassed her on the set of It Ends With Us and spearheaded a smear campaign against her.
Baldoni denied the accusations and countersued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for $400 million, claiming defamation, civil extortion, and invasion of privacy.
Swift is a good friend to Lively and Reynolds
The 35-year-old pop star has had her name come up several times in Baldoni’s lawsuit as Swift is a close friend to Lively and her husband and is even the godmother of their three daughters.
Baldoni’s lawyer claims Swift was present
Freedman claimed that the singer was at Lively and Reynold’s New York penthouse during the pivotal meeting mentioned in Baldoni’s lawsuit after Lively rewrote the famous rooftop scene in It Ends With Us.
This meeting is a big part of Baldoni’s lawsuit
Baldoni alleges in his lawsuit that the conversation got heated at this meeting, and that he felt ambushed and berated. He also claimed that Lively tried to use her relationship with Swift to intimidate him.
Baldoni also shared text messages
In his legal documents, the director included an alleged text conversation between him and Lively which took place after the meeting.
Baldoni allegedly wrote to Lively, “I really love what you did. It really does help a lot. Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan or Taylor).” He later claimed he felt ‘obligated’ to say this.
Lively allegedly told him they were her ‘dragons’
In an alleged response, Lively referred to herself as Khaleesi from Game of Thrones, and told Baldoni that Reynolds and Swift were her ‘dragons’, implying that she needed them there to ‘protect who she fights for’.
He shared her alleged message

Lively’s alleged text message read, “If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better.”
“Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. you will too, I can promise you.”
Swift’s representatives issued a scathing response
The pop star’s team didn’t like the alleged subpoena, with one of her representatives telling the New York Post, ”Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release.”
Her involvement in the movie was limited
The representative said that Swift’s involvement was only limited to the use of one of her songs in the movie, adding, “The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, My Tears Ricochet.”
“Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”
