Being on the receiving end of a prank isn't always what it's cracked up to be. Sure, there are plenty of pranks that are all in good fun, and leave you chuckling.
But there are even more that go way too far.
Being on the receiving end of a prank isn't always what it's cracked up to be. Sure, there are plenty of pranks that are all in good fun, and leave you chuckling.
But there are even more that go way too far.
A teen posted her story to Reddit's AmITheAsshole sub, asking if she was in the wrong for reacting negatively to a prank her boyfriend pulled on her.
She explains that the boyfriend (who she calls Luke for the sake of the post) went through her underwear drawer with two friends ("Liam" and "Barry") in order to rub IcyHot all over the inside of one of her bras. All while she was in the shower.
"It hurt like hell. I didn't know what was going on," she writes, "I kept grimacing and cringing and Luke was like 'Enjoying your IcyHot? Oh yeah, YOU JUST GOT PRANKED!'"
She then says that he was saying things like, "'Calm down, it was a harmless prank, you are overreacting! You'll regret overreacting tomorrow, it's just a prank!'"
"I don't think it was a prank, it still hurts. It was embarrassing (the three of them all saw my bras and underwear!) and painful, and he thinks I'm being dramatic, am overreacting, and need to calm down."
Overwhelmingly, the comment section agreed that she was not being an asshole about this "prank." It was a horrible thing to do to your significant other.
Reddit user ReasonableFig2111 had a breakdown of pretty much everything that was wrong with this situation:
"He caused you physical pain," they comment. "He knew it would hurt, that's the point. He breached your privacy by showing your underwear to his friends. He knows underwear is private. He knows he did not have your consent. He did it anyway.
All in all, it seemed really mean and totally unnecessary. And the fact that he involved his friends made is all the more horrible.
"Maybe this guy is an irredeemable asshole, or maybe he’s still too immature to be a good boyfriend. Either way, you’re probably better off breaking up with him," Reddit user soap---poisoning writes.
I don't know how a relationship can move past something like this.
