Young Girl Finds Receipt For Surveillance Equipment In Airbnb: 'Be Safe'

In today's day and age, going on vacation and getting away can be very expensive.

Hotels charge high prices for staying there, and if you want to stay at a place with tons of room and extra amenities, you will be paying for a little bit more than usual. Recently, many companies have been popping up to replace hotels and their high prices.

Airbnb has been a replacement for many expensive hotel chains.

Airbnb is a company that has been around for a few years that has been able to replace and sometimes even compete with hotels in certain areas.

The way it works is that individuals who own homes and property can rent them out through the Airbnb app and make a profit on it.

Airbnb can be a great way to make money for real estate owners.

If you're someone who owns multiple homes in certain areas, like seasonal homes, it can be a great way to maximize profits.

Especially if you don't use your seasonal homes very often.

And, many Airbnb users love staying at "cozy" homes over hotels.

However, there are some downsides, too.

Many Airbnb owners also know there are downsides to renting out their homes to complete strangers. Sometimes, things can be damaged, stolen, or totally trashed—as has happened with Airbnb in the past.

Therefore, some Airbnb hosts take caution.

Recently, one TikTok user disclosed that while staying at an Airbnb, she found a receipt that made her feel wildly uncomfortable.

Buckle up, because this is wild, even to me, who thought she had seen it all.

Apparently, the receipt had a long list of surveillance equipment, which made her cautious that there were cameras watching her in the Airbnb while she was staying there.

The items listed were very specific.

The items listed included a keychain audio recorder, a flash drive audio recorder, an iPhone case hidden camera, a power bank hidden camera, and a pen that also records audio.

Anyone would be a bit worried if they saw this receipt just hanging out in a place they were staying.

Many people online were totally nervous after seeing this video and had many questions.

Some asked if the stuff was shipped to the same address as the Airbnb, which apparently was not the case.

The TikTok user said it was a few houses down from the actual Airbnb, which was good news to her.

She also explained that she figured someone had "left it behind."

After going through the address and the things sent in the shipment order, she said it could be possible it was either shipped somewhere else to use there or that it was something left behind by someone staying there before.

She also said she "didn't find" any cameras in the Airbnb.

She didn't report the cameras or the receipt, and when she was staying there she was also unable to find the cameras. However, she did issue a caution to others to "be safe" and "be careful" when staying in Airbnbs.

Because as it turns out, if they want, they can actually be waching you.

Many people had advice for her on the app.

One person said it is allowed for Airbnb hosts to have cameras in their home

However, the hosts are supposed to *disclose* if they do have cameras in the house to those who are staying there.

And actually, because of the fact that they didn't disclose it, she can actually ask for a refund.

So here's hoping she got some money back.

Another person said that this list doesn't seem like it's used for "home surveillance."

Another TikTok user said that this list seems more to be stuff to use on the go, as it's "smaller" cameras like hidden iPhone cameras and keychains. Therefore, it most likely will not be stuff placed around a home for spying.

And, another felt like it was "fair game."

A final commenter said that it's pretty fair for Airbnb hosts to use cameras in their homes because many people staying there have "partied and trashed" Airbnb's, so as long as the cameras aren't in bathrooms and bedrooms, it's okay.
