Devastated Wife Asks For Advice Over Husband Saying Other Woman’s Name In Sleep

More people talk in their sleep than you may think. However, this strange occurrence recently got one man into a lot of trouble as it turned out that he had been saying a "random" woman's name in his sleep.

The fact that he had been repeatedly saying this name really got under the skin of his wife, as you can probably expect!

The wife took to the internet to ask how she should deal with this sort of behaviour.

"My (f27) husband (M34) has been mentioning the name 'Chloe' in his sleep several times in the past weeks. He'd do it 2 times a week. It didn't bother me much at first but it freaked me out as it kept occurring I'm not gonna lie," the wife started by explaining.

The husband would always deny knowing anyone by the name "Chloe" when they woke up, and one time he suggested that he may have heard it in a movie...which doesn't sound shady at all. However, she let it slide at first.

The plot thickened when our protagonist went for lunch with her in-laws.

At the family meal, it came out that her brother-in-law had just started seeing someone called...you guessed it, "Chloe." So, she confronted her husband afterwards:

"I asked my husband if he knew about her and he gave a long stare then said yes his brother did mention her few times before and that was it. I gotta say I got somewhat bothered because I tried to work [with] him on who Chloe was before but he said he didn't know anyone with that name."

It then transpired that the husband had actually met her before, not only heard of her.

Not only had the husband met Chloe before, but "my brother-in-law later [said] my husband met Chloe with him twice at the restaurant weeks ago." However, when she brought this fact up with her husband, he said it was "unnecessary" to talk about it.

"He said the dinner thing happened by coincidence and he didn't mention her because he thought she was just a friend of his brothers and didn't pay attention to her or her name. He wanted me to stop bringing it up and [interrogating] him like he did something wrong and [said] that he didn't appreciate how I approached him with my questions," she further explained.

When he next said the name she packed up her stuff and left, with her husband saying that she was "overreacting and that I can't be upset over something he has no control over." Ultimately, his answer to the problem was to "stop bringing up and ignore it [then] maybe it'll go away."

She ended her story by writing: "I'm not sure if I should ignore it especially after I learned that his brother's potential girlfriend has the same name [and] she already met my husband before so that can not be a coincidence. I was told that you only say someone's name in your sleep if you happen to use it alot while awake."

When she then asked what she could do, the internet was very divided on their opinions.

Some people were of the opinion that he cannot control what he says in his sleep, but that he should also have told her the truth about the name:

"Calling out a name in his sleep is out of his control, but lying to you about it wasn't. He's probably embarrassed but he should be able to be honest with you."

Some brought their own experiences into the debate:

"Honestly, I think you ARE over-reacting a bit. Our brains do all kinds of weird s*** at night. For years, my ex wife would have dreams that I was cheating on her and would get mad at me and be cold to me for days after. I never cheated on her."

The lying was enough for some people to convince that there was something fishy going on.

"Yeah, it wouldn't have been a big deal if he hadn't lied about it. But he did, so there's definitely something sketchy going on," wrote one suspicious individual. Ultimately, the woman who posted the story wrote that "I just want him to be honest with me." However, without the husband being willing to talk about the sleep talking more, there is little chance of her getting the truth.

Would you be suspicious of your partner saying the name of someone you know in the middle of the night? It's got to be a pretty odd situation to find yourself in that's for sure!
