Ikea's Kallax Shelves Can Be Turned Into Bed Frames With Tons Of Storage

IKEA hacks will never go out of style. Why? Because finding cheap and easy home hacks that actually look good are something that don't come along very often.

The latest hack that's taken over the internet has people using IKEA's famous KALLAX shelves as bed frames. These are the perfect DIY beds for dorm rooms, or anyone who needs some extra storage space.

Meet Alasia.

She went viral on TikTok for a pretty wholesome reason: she wanted to redo her room! Alasia posted herself heading to IKEA to pick up some new stuff for her room, including some KALLAX shelves.

The reveal of her bed blew TikTok's mind.

She showed off her hard work, which turned out to be a lofted bed on top of some KALLAX cube shelves. The storage was great, but it was what was underneath that made everyone go crazy.

There's a secret nook underneath!

Alasia built a little nook underneath her bed! There's tons of storage, padding for a second bed, string lights, and a curtain to hide the whole thing from the rest of the room!

Needless to say, people LOVED it.

Everyone wanted to know how she did it, and what she needed to buy to put it together!

Thankfully, Alasia heard their pleas and made a follow-up TikTok explaining her process.

Here's how she did it.

"So I bought 3 30x57 [KALLAX] shelves from IKEA, put two of them along the wall — the other one's the last cubicle at the end — and then I bought a 47x80 piece of plywood from Home Depot.

The plywood is her bed base.

"I laid it along the top, I didn't nail it down because I knew it would break the shelves. But it's very sturdy and safe, and then I popped my mattress right on top.

The nook is SO cute.

There's so much space underneath to just hang out and have some quiet time! I know my introverted self would have hidden under there ALL the time when I was a teenager.

It's held up pretty well, too.

According to Alasia, she and her boyfriend were both able to sleep on the bed with no trouble at all. Their combined weight wasn't a problem for the plywood!
