'Stranger Things': End Of Season 3 Fan Theories That Actually Make Sense

Alright baby, get that mind ready! Strap on some bandages or whatever, because it's about to explode all over the place!

Are you ready? Cause I don't think that you are!

Stranger Things.

Netflix

Now that Season 3 is out, the fan theories are also going to be swimming around like sharks around blood.

So strap in and strap on folks, because we're going for it!

Oh right... Spoilers

Giphy

Obviously, if you haven't seen Season 3 in its entirety then you probably shouldn't be reading this article. After all, you wouldn't want the new season spoiled for you, would you?

That's right, you wouldn't. Okay here we go!

1. Hopper Might Not Be Dead

Netflix

So as we all know, Hopper was killed by what we in the scientific community call "a really huge explosion" at the end of Season 3.

Truly, truly a sad moment for fans everywhere.

Well...

Netflix

He might not actually be all that dead.

In a post-credits scene, we see two Soviets (also known in the scientific community as "commie scum") talking about "The American".

Just in case you didn't know...

Netflix

This is a name that Grigori calls Hopper on many different occasions.

Could that be a reference to him still being alive and in the custody of those communist pigs?

Not enough?

Netflix

Well, how about this then, Mr/Mrs/Ms/Whatever You Happen To Identify As Picky-Pants, when Eleven is reading his letter, "Heroes" the Peter Gabriel version of David Bowie's song plays.

Seems like nothing, right?

Not quite.

Netflix

In Season 1, when they discover the fake version of Will's body, that song also plays.

Could this mean we're in for yet another fakeout? Only Season 4 will tell...

2. The Next Season's Holiday

Netflix

So, we know that Stranger Things likes to set their series around the holidays.

Season 2 was Halloween, Season 3 was July the 4th (obviously to celebrate Sidewalk Egg Frying Day) and Season 1 was... er... Remembrance Day?

So what about Season 4?

Netflix

Well, during one scene, Mike and El talk about how he could visit her on Thanksgiving, or maybe Will could come around for Christmas.

So we're thinking either one of those two.

3. Hopper Might Be Next Season's Villain

Netflix

There have been whispers on the internet that not only is Hopper alive, but he might just be the bad guy in Season 4.

But how? How could he turn?

Think about it...

Netflix

If, and that's a big if, Hopper is alive, then he's being held captive by the Soviets.

Communists are notorious for being evil and brainwashing people (a Capitalist would never try that).

So maybe...

Netflix

The Soviets are going to brainwash Hopper into working for them.

Maybe it'll be out in the open, maybe he'll be a sleeper agent. You never know with those sneaky Soviets...

4. Hopper May Be Somewhere Else

Netflix

A lot of focus on Hopper for these fan theories, that's for sure...

So we're not sure that Hopper is dead. Put aside the fact that they call out for "The American"...

Put Aside the fact...

Netflix

That we hear that Peter Gabriel/David Bowie song in the end, but think of the fact that we never saw his body.

Where could it have gone? It may have been vaporized by the blast, sure...

Or...

Netflix

He could be in The Upside Down. That also could be the reason that Eleven lost her powers, so she couldn't use them to find out where Hopper is being held.

Who knows?
