10+ TV Shows That Didn't Age Well

These are the TV shows that we might love, we might hate, we might feel indifferent about.

But something we all can agree on is some of the jokes or subject matter or even episodes... probably wouldn't fly here in 2019.

It doesn't mean they're bad shows, they just didn't age well.

1. 'Baywatch'

IMDb

The only reason this show was a thing was so that they could show women in bikinis.

There was kind of a plot... maybe a little bit of one. But mostly so they could show women in bikinis.

2. 'Just Shoot Me!'

IMDb

There's a good reason you haven't heard of this misogynistic TV show, and it's because of that little buzz word that starts with an "M".

You know the one, I just said it.

It's bad enough that David Spade's character treats all the women he encounters on the show like objects...

IMDb

But they also make Greta (the one woman he doesn't objectify) the butt of all the jokes because she's a feminist.

3. 'Walker, Texas Ranger'

IMDb

This show has become outdated simply because it's A) a big steaming pile of American propaganda and B) is so jacked up on testosterone it makes Macho Man Randy Savage look subtle.

4. 'Heroes'

IMDb

In a world dominated by Marvel movies (and other superhero companies that will not be named) any attempt at making a superhero TV show just look like cheap knockoffs.

And some of the powers are lame.

5. 'Home Improvement'

IMDb

Pretty much every single Tim Allen TV show is about how he doesn't understand women. And this was the TV show that started that trend.

Unfortunately, it wasn't the show to end the trend.

6. 'Dragon Ball Z'

IMDb

It's not that it hasn't aged well because of racist or sexist plotlines, it's just an incredibly slow show.

And not slow in a good, dramatic way either, they just spend entire episodes powering up or whatever.

7. 'How I Met Your Mother'

IMDb

There's one big reason as to why this show ended up aging poorly, and that is Barney.

He was such a nasty predator through the series' run, and to him, women only existed for him to have sex with.

8. 'Doug'

IMDb

This show just sucks because well... it was bland.

It may have been better for our grey early 2000s minds, but now that we're in 2019 that ain't gonna fly.

9. 'Friends'

IMDb

Yes, it is one of the funniest shows of all time.

Yes, it will always have a place in our hearts. But there are some jokes and moments in the series that definitely have not aged well (Ross and the male nanny is one of many).

10. 'Scrubs'

IMDb

What was the appeal of this show when it came out?

Everyone I've talked to says this show was annoying (and still is annoying, for that matter).

Not only was the show annoying, but it was incredibly politically incorrect.

IMDb

Not only did they objectify women at every turn, but they also made fun of men who weren't "masculine enough".

11. 'Two and a Half Men'

IMDb

It's no surprise that a TV show starring an incredibly misogynistic Charlie Sheen hasn't aged all that well.

You know the drill, this show objectified women, made them sex objects, etc, etc.

12. 'I Dream of Jeannie'

IMDb

This show may have been a feminist's nightmare. At least a 2019 Feminist.

Jeannie always called her male host "master" and did every little thing that he commanded. Sure that was her job but... well, it wasn't a good look!

13. 'Married... with Children'

IMDb

Another sitcom that has been criticized for being sexist, it seems that was the norm back in the day.

Oh, you know how boomer humor goes: "wife bad, kids bad, man dumb".

14. 'The Simpsons'

Disney

The show isn't all that problematic it's just... lost its touch.

It's not funny anymore. Then again, when you've been on the air for 30 years, you're bound to get stale after a while.

15. 'All in the Family'

IMDb

Two words: Archie Bunker.

Try watching an episode of All In The Family without cringing at something Archie says.

He's never presented as right or the good guy, he's just always racist and sexist.

16. 'The Dukes of Hazzard'

IMDb

People get down on this show for one reason: the fact that the General Lee has the Confederate Flag on it.

Come to think of it, the car is named "The General Lee".

17. 'Blossom'

IMDb

While Mayim Bialik eventually did find success of The Big Bang Theory, this show has not aged well because of the way it presents the dark subject matter in such a light way.

Although that may have been the point, it doesn't mean that it worked.

18. 'Saved By The Bell'

IMDb

There is a whole YouTube series dedicated to pointing out how Zach Morris is the worst, and we can't help but agree with him.

A lot of his schemes went past just being wacky: some of them were messed up!

19. 'MacGyver'

IMDb

Some of you may look back on this show with rose-tinted glasses because if you watch it these days you're probably going to have a bad time.

The show was poorly written.

20. 'Mr. Ed'

IMDb

Watch this show and then watch Bojack Horseman. Tell me which show is the funnier horse show?

Which show has more clever puns? Which show will age well, and which show hasn't.

21. 'Hey, Dude'

Nickelodeon

Whether it was going for the wacky sitcom or "after school special" vibe, this show was just garbage all around.

Some people try to loop this one in with the other Nickelodeon live-action classics of the time, but it doesn't work.

22. 'Sister, Sister'

IMDb

The "separated twins eventually finding each other and reuniting" was a tired trope back in the '90s when this show came out.

Is there anyone who thinks this was original?

23. 'The Nanny'

IMDb

Who the heck gave Fran Drescher a show? Step forward please so we can give you a proper punishment!

It was a sexist show at the base of it, even though we liked to believe otherwise.

24. 'Dawson's Creek'

IMDb

Sure, you liked this show when you were a teen.

But we also thought it was cool to like the bad boy when we were in high school until we figured out that it was a waste of time.

I hope you get what I'm swatting at here...

IMDb

If not, here's the deal: we liked a lot of things when we were teens, but a lot of the stuff we liked doesn't age all that well.

Dawson's Creek is one of those things.

25. 'Highlander: The Series'

IMDb

Recently, we've learned that turning movies into TV series' can be a difficult task. However, no one knew that back when this TV show was made.

It isn't anywhere near as good as the movie, we know that much.

26. 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers'

IMDb

Maybe if you like bad martial arts movies, then maybe you'll still like this TV show.

For the rest of us who have grown up, the flashing lights and colorful suits aren't enough to dazzle us anymore.

27. 'Pokemon'

IMDb

Speaking of things that used to impress us as kids, the Pokemon anime will only still impress you if you're a child who doesn't know any better.

It was only good for the first few seasons, let us be honest.

The fact of the matter is...

IMDb

That the veil was lifted by the "Chinpokomon" episode of South Park. The show was just an attempt to make us kids buy toys! And stupidly, we bought them!

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to guy buy another Baby Yoda Funko! Pop.

28. 'The Brady Bunch'

IMDb

Yeah, I said it.

Watch an episode of The Brady Bunch, I dare you. Yeah... you're not laughing as much as you used to, are you?

That's because you've been spoiled by the modern TV. Or TV that's actually funny.
