Jason Sudeikis Talks Parenting And Setting A Good Example For His Kids For The First Time After Split With Olivia Wilde

The actor recently talked about parenting during a conversation with ET's Nischelle Turner at the Ted Lasso season 3 premiere. Sudeikis shares two children, Daisy, 6, and Otis, 8 with his ex, Wilde.

During the conversation, Turner asked if Sudeikis' kids knew how he works to bring fans more of the movie. Answering the question, the actor responded that the kids knew how often he did and enjoyed the movie.

The Colossal actor added that his kids also get to see him and Wilde doing a job they have fun at. He continued that he was happy that was the kind of example they were setting. These days, Sudeikis and Wilde have a more amicable relationship regarding their lives as co-parents.

Since their feud and custody battle died down, the star actress has been focusing all her energy on their children. Sudeikis has also been putting in a better effort by supporting her. A source added that it was easier for the duo to get along after Wilde's split from Harry Styles in November 2022.

The 47-year-old actor plays the role of Ted in the Apple TV + series, Ted Lasso. In the show, the actor also has a child and struggles to co-parent. He also struggles to maintain a long-distance relationship with his kid while serving as a head coach in London.

The actor shared that being a parent, in reality, helped him in the movie. Sudeikis added that he was able to play the part because he already felt such love for his kids. 

Sudeikis and fellow actor Wilde ended their engagement in November 2020. The pair were together for nearly a decade before splitting up. After their split, Wilde had a long custody battle with Sudeikis over their kids.

However, a source shared in August 2022 that the duo was co-parenting amid the custody battle. The pair kept their communication minimal such that they mostly shared information through their assistants.

The source revealed that the communication between the duo was restricted to their kids' schedules and about the kids. Despite the tense situation between the Hall Pass actor and the Babylon actress, they put their children first.

The insider noted that Olivia wanted her children to have the best relationship with their father while encouraging that as much as possible. She also made sure not to stand in the way.

While still in the heat of their custody issues, Wilde slammed Sudeikis for serving her legal papers onstage in April. The Butter actress was onstage at CinemaCon. In court filings obtained at that time, Wilde legally filed to dismiss Sudeikis' custody petition.

The Booksmart star noted that his actions were intended to threaten her and catch her off-guard. She added that his serving tactics were done aggressively. Wilde continued that Sudeikis wanted to embarrass her professionally while putting their personal issues on public display.

She added that it negated the thought of putting their children's best interests as a top priority. However, the Horrible Bosses star defended himself in his filing. Sudeikis insisted that it was not his intention for Wilde to be served on stage and apologized for the incident. 

He stated that he did not want to issue the legal papers at the home of her then-lover, Harry Styles. He also considered that their children might be present at that moment.

Sudeikis and Wilde's split has some other incidents attached to it. The pair's former nanny,  Erika Genaro, filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the duo last month. She alleged that she was fired due to her mental health. Genaro started working for the former couple in 2018.

The childcare giver recently claimed that she started seeing an osteopath for the physical pain caused by her job. She added that her osteopath suggested she take a three-day medical leave because of her mental health. After saying she was ordered by her osteopath not to speak to anyone, Genaro was fired on the spot by Sudeikis. The duo's former nanny is now seeking damages for deferred compensation and loss of earnings. 

Sudeikis and Wilde's former nanny laid a lot of allegations against the pair in October 2022. She claimed she suffered unbreakable anxiety in her job after Wilde moved out in November 2020. She also claimed that Sudeikis would have conversations about Wilde with her which caused "extreme anxiety."

Genaro further alleged that her role in the kids' lives increased since Wilde's absence. Genaro also allegedly met Wilde in California to discuss being stressed by the situation. However, she claimed that a month later, Sudeikis revealed that Wilde shared the conversation with him. 

The allegations against Sudeikis and Wilde did not slip by the pair. After Genaro shared the allegations during an interview with DailyMail, Sudeikis and Wilde released a joint statement. In the statement, the pair called the allegations "false and scurrilous." They also shared that they would continue to raise and protect their children hoping Genaro would leave their family alone.
