It’s no surprise to any Sister Wives fan that husband Kody Brown continues to insult his first wife, Meri Brown. Having put Meri on the back burner for so many years, it’s clear Kody has no attachment to his first love.
In the newly released midseason trailer for the hit TLC show, it’s more clear now than ever why Meri really needs to get the heck outta there.

It’s no secret there is tension between Kody Brown and his three remaining wives, especially with his first wife, Meri Brown.
In the past, Kody has described his marriage to Meri as “amicable” but “estranged” as a result of her catfishing scandal back in 2015.
During this most recent season, fans watched as Meri mourned the loss of her mother and was forced to make the almost 5-hour-long drive to say goodbye alone .
After the passing of her mother, Meri was left to run her family’s bed-and-breakfast in Utah.
In a recent episode of Sister Wives , Kody suggested that Meri move to Utah to run the inn.
Understandably, Meri took offense to this suggestion.
“Kody actually said to me the other day, he said, ‘Why don’t you just move up there?’ So I’m like, ‘Uhh, that was not my intention,'” Meri recalled.
“I told him I didn’t want to. I told him I had no intention of doing that, and he was kind of surprised.”
“He’s like, ‘Oh, really?’ I guess I’m just still in this place with him or he’s in this place where he thinks the point of me buying this was to get away and that saddens me a lot.”
Of course, Kody was quick to backtrack in his own aside interview.
“The reason I’m suggesting this to Meri is because honestly, as a family anymore it doesn’t feel like we interact that much,” the father of 18 said, as per ET. “I’m not even trying to push her away.”
“She’s laying this burden that she has at my feet about this struggle she has about what to do with Lizzie’s Heritage Inn now that her mom’s passed. And I’m like, here’s a solution for you.”
In the new, midseason trailer for the current season of “Sister Wives,” the wives prepare to say goodbye to Christine.
“I’m feeling betrayed. I can’t imagine what Kody’s feeling,” Meri says to fellow sister wife Robyn, as per ET.
Kody’s first wife is clearly hurt by Christine’s decision.
“Congratulations, you’re leaving the family,” Meri tells the camera in a sarcastic interview. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to say to this.”
If that wasn’t drama enough, fans watch as Kody then goes on to confirm what us Sister Wives fans have known for a long time — he doesn’t consider Meri his wife.
“I don’t really consider myself married to Meri,” he says in his own aside interview. “If she wanted to move on and marry another, she wouldn’t get an argument from me.”
Robyn, often referred to as Kody’s “favorite wife” is seen pleading for her husband to try to repair his relationships with his other wives.
“He still has marriages with us, and he still has to fix them or he’s going to ruin every single one of them,” she says in the trailer.
While this news is not a surprise, it doesn’t mean our hearts don’t break for Meri.
