A woman has gone viral for her unusual wedding toast that came from her ex-husband.

Speeches and toasts at weddings are a time-honored tradition, and the honor usually falls to someone really close to the bride or the groom. The best man, the maid of honor, the parents of the couple, siblings, close friends — all of these people give speeches at weddings and it's not seen as anything notable. But what about when the speech comes from an ex-husband?

In the video, a man in a blue suit can be seen standing at the table next to the bride and groom. "For those of you who know who I am, you're probably thinking, that's a bold choice," he begins his speech to scattered laughs. "I am Kristen's ex-husband. Yeah, so now that we're all uncomfortable, let's get started. I'm going to be honest, initially when she asked, when Kyle asked, I thought, wow, so NOBODY else would do this, huh?" he joked.

"I googled it, like, what do you say at your ex-wife's wedding? And the only results were: don't. Don't do that," he goes on.

"Why would you do that? But I'm gonna try anyway," the ex laughs. "And I told you guys, it's a toast, not a roast, but I do want to make jokes about you guys. But I don't really have anything negative to say, which is weird, at least nothing I want to say in front of your family," he says to the wife, who laughs.

"I was a little concerned when I found out that Kyle was going to be a part of your life and a part of [our children's] life, because, historically speaking, your taste in men has been horrible," he teases.

"But I got to know him, he's super disarming. But they're an awesome couple," he says, and then he addresses the bride's parents by name and speaks directly to them. "One of the things that I wanted to point out [to the bride's parents], that I think is super important, is that seventeen years ago, I didn't really get the concept of as a parent expecting or having to trust the safety and happiness and overall wellbeing of your child to a stranger, who you didn't pick, they picked."

"That's changed a little bit."

"[We've got our kids] and they're a huge part of my life and I care about them more than anything, so now I kind of get it. I'm going to speak for all three of us, if that's okay, that I'm exceedingly grateful that the person we're trusting with the happiness of [our kids] is this man right here," he says, gesturing to the groom. "I don't think you guys will disagree with me."

"So the other thing that I've heard you're supposed to do is give some level of advice for the couple for the secret to a happy marriage," he says in closing.

"But why the [expletive] would anybody take my advice?" he jokes, to much laughter from the bride and the guests, before continuing on to bring their children up to the table to toast the happy couple.

What an amazing moment from what must be a mature family!
