I’m a sucker for a good Easter Egg hunt. A careful eye can reveal a lot and if you look hard enough, you’ll often uncover a completely new level of understanding when it comes to your favorite movies .
That’s why I’ve compiled this list of 10+ Easter Eggs in very famous movies that we definitely didn’t catch the first time around. Have a look and see which ones you were able to spot.
Movies are magic. That we know for sure.
They are filled with great plots, better characters, and a ton of little details and Easter Eggs that you might not have noticed on your first watching.
That is why this list exists! To help you find what you might have missed.
1. There’s a Starbucks cup somewhere in every scene in *Fight Club*.
One of the driving themes of Fight Club is rebellion against mass consumerism.
In order to hammer that point home, director David Fincher always made sure to have a Starbucks cup somewhere in the scene.
2. A clever nod to ‘Pulp Fiction’ in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’.
Any true fan of either Samuel L. Jackson or Quinten Tarantino likely knows “The Path of the Righteous Man” speech off by heart.
Including it on Nick Fury’s epitaph is an incredibly cool nod to another of Samuel L. Jackson’s iconic characters.
3. C-3PO and R2D2 make a cameo appearance in *Raiders Of The Lost Ark*.
If you take a look at the gold hieroglyphics inscribed within the tomb, you’ll be able to spot two of the most recognizable droids on this side of the galaxy!
A nod to Harrison Ford’s time spent playing Han Solo in Star Wars .
4. The Twin Pines Mall becomes the Lone Pine Mall in *Back To The Future*.
Marty and the Doc meet at the Twin Pines Mall to begin the trial run of the time machine. Doc Brown explains to Marty that 30 years ago, where they now stand was once farmland — owned by Old Man Peabody.
Old Man Peabody had a crazy idea about breeding pine trees, according to Doc Brown.
When Marty goes back to 1955, he crashes into Old Man Peabody’s barn. As he makes his escape, he runs over one of his pine trees.
Later on, when Marty returns to 1985, the sign on the mall now reads Lone Pine Mall.
5. It’s bat country in *Rango*.
One of Johnny Depp’s most revered roles was playing Hunter S. Thompson in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas .
During the opening scene of Rango , when Rango hits the windshield on the highway, the passengers in the car are Dr. Gonzo and Raoul Duke .
6. How to spot the bad guy in every Disney movie.
If you want a cheat code for discovering Disney villains, just look for the color lime-green.
Since the beginning, this color has been associated with evil in the Disney universe: the Evil Queen from Snow White , Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty , and of course — Scar.
7. Linda Blair was reporting on the Woodsboro Murders in *Scream*.
Wes Craven’s Scream is both an ode and a parody of the horror genre. After Sidney is attacked in her home, a barrage of reporters begin harassing her for comments.
The one in the black and white shirt is Linda , which is a clever reference to her role as Regan in The Exorcist .
8. Oranges bring death in *The Godfather*.
Don’t believe me? Keep a close eye the next time you cue up this masterpiece of modern filmmaking.
Oranges are always present immediately preceding the death of a principal character. Don Corleone himself dies with an orange in his mouth.
9. ‘X’ marks the spot in *The Departed*.
The Departed boasts an incredibly high body count. If you pay attention, an ‘X’ can always be seen right before someone is about to die.
Some are less obvious than others, but they’re always there if you look.
10. There are too many ‘Star Wars’ references to count in ‘E.T.’.
For one thing, Elliot’s room is a literal treasure trove of memorabilia. But the biggest and most obvious reference is when E.T. runs into the kid dressed as Yoda on Halloween.
After a brief pause, he runs toward him yelling “Home! Home!”
George Lucas was so flattered, that he returned the favor in *Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace*.
You can spot a group of aliens that sure do look a heck of a lot like E.T. So does this mean that E.T. and Yoda do in fact know one another?!
11. Frank Abagnale arrests himself in *Catch Me If You Can*.
The film Catch Me If You Can was based on the real-life exploits of Frank Abagnale .
He not only served as a consultant on the film but during the scene where Leo (Frank) is arrested, that’s actually the real Frank Abagnale playing the police officer!
12. Every single second of *Ready Player One*.
I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this one. Ready Player One is Steven Spielberg’s requiem for the late 80s-90s pop culture.
It references every big blockbuster hit from Jurassic Park to A Nightmare on Elm Street .
13. The fruit on Lt. Einhorn’s desk foreshadows the events to come in *Ace Ventura: Pet Detective*.
Ace finally deduces that Finkel and Einhorn are one and the same. But had he paid closer attention to some subtle hints along the way, he might have saved himself some time.
Take a look at the banana and the two apples on the desk. Remind you of anything?
14. The dialogue repeats itself in *Baby Driver*.
When Baby is flipping through the channels he hears a monologue from the TV.
Later in the movie, Baby repeats the entire dialogue, making the movie come full circle, in a way.
15. In *Love, Simon*, we get a clue as to who Blue actually is.
Martin jokes, “Hey, what do you get when you mix Black and Jewish? Blue-ish!”
Little does he know, this actually points to the person who ends up being Blue.

16. Mary and Joseph are rejected again in *Never Been Kissed*
When the people playing Mary and Joseph try to sit down during prom, Kirsten tells them that they can’t because there’s no room for them.
Obviously, this is inn reference to the biblical tale of Mary and Joseph who were rejected from an inn.
17. Rapunzel in *Frozen*
Obviously, Disney is known for having a ton of Easter Eggs, and another one appeared in Frozen .
During Elsa’s coronation, you can see Rapunzel and Flynn in the background attending the ceremony.
18. The Joker’s nametag in *The Dark Knight*
If you look closely, you can see the name tag on his nurse outfit has a very familiar name.
It reads “Matilda” which is actually the name of Heath Ledger’s daughter. How sweet is that?
19. The Infinity Gauntlet in *Thor: Ragnarok*
When Hela is walking through all of Odin’s treasures, she notices that some are fake.
This includes the Infinity Gauntlet, which is obviously a foreshadowing the events of Infinity War and Endgame .
20. Peter Parker appears in *Iron Man 2*
There is a little boy in a mask that Tony saves in the movie, and that little boy is actually Peter Parker! Which means we already saw Spider-Man!
This was even confirmed by Kevin Feige and Tom Holland.
“I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I’ve just done a big, old spoiler, but it’s out there now,” said Holland to Huffington Post.
“It’s cool. I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.”
21. The leaf in *Inglourious Basterds*
At one point, a leaf falls onto an Austrian-born, Jewish soldier. The shape of the leaf closely resembles the Star of David, which Jewish people had no choice to wear on the left side of their chest by Nazis.
As it turns out, Quentin Tarantino did this on purpose.
Eli Roth told Slash Film:
“There’s [a] scene, where a soldier is pointing at a map and a yellow leaf falls on [actor] Gideon Burkhard’s chest. And someone else pointed out that it’s “down to the yellow leaf that mimics the Star of David on that soldier.”
22. Sid appears in *Toy Story 3*.
The garbage man in Toy Story 3 is not a random garbage man!
It is actually Sid, who is the villain from the first Toy Story movie. Talk about things going full circle!
23. Actual Easter Eggs in *The Rocky Horror Picture Show*
Throughout the movie, you can see literal chocolate eggs scattered throughout the set.
There was a hunt that they were having off-camera, and obviously, they couldn’t find them all! E for Effort!
