I cannot express the importance of doing the step all of us skip: patch testing.
When you’re dyeing your hair, you’re using chemicals that your body just plain isn’t used to. And for some people, that can result in allergic reactions that can land you in the hospital.
That’s exactly what happened to TikTok user @ser.gaya, who discovered the consequences of skipping the patch test the hard way.
Meet Seraya.
She decided to dye her hair without doing a patch test. As you can see, her body was not thrilled with her choice. She had an allergic reaction to the black dye almost immediately after applying it.
She wound up going to the hospital.
She said the treatment she got at the ER wasn’t adequate.
“They gave me scalp serum to help with the chemical burns, but they didn’t give me anything for the swelling.”
Urgent Care was more helpful.
“I went to Urgent Care, and at Urgent Care they gave me steroids that I had to take twice a day for four days, and that got all the swelling down.”
Revlon reached out to her over the whole situation.
There’s no word on what they had to say, but I’m betting there’s some free product in Seraya’s future.
She’s now completely healed, and I’m betting she’ll be taking up patch testing from here on out!
