One woman’s already rare experience of having quadruplets just became even more uncanny with the news that her new children will be two sets of identical twins.
Although the world is always full of surprises, it seems to save some of its biggest ones for when people are having kids.
Not only do we sometimes hear of moms having a staggering number of kids at once , but we can sometimes find that the circumstances through which those kids enter the world are just as improbable.
After all, how many times do you think we’ll ever hear of twins having kids in the same day at the same hospital?
But even with this in mind, it was still hard for even the people examining one Massachusetts woman’s pregnancy to believe what they were seeing.
In the past, children haven’t exactly come easily for Ashley Ness of Taunton, Massachusetts.

As she told Good Morning America, she had to struggle to have her now eight-year-old daughter and has also had multiple miscarriages in the past.
But according to Boston.com, she’s always been someone who’s enjoyed being surrounded by children , which meant it was hard for her not to see a cosmic connection when she was able to get pregnant right as her grandmother was passing away.
As she put it, “I feel like this is almost like a gift from her, like sending back the losses that I had.”

As Boston.com reported, Ness found out she was pregnant during a routine doctor’s visit, but would learn that this only scratched the surface of her surprise two weeks later.
While she was at her ultrasound appointment, she noticed that the technician wrote the letters “A” and “B” on her scan. And Ness never expected the answer she’d receive when she asked if she’d be having twins.
In her words, “She’s like, ‘Um, honey, you’re having four babies.’ I thought I was going to faint.”
This seemed just as surprising for the technician, who told Ness, “I had to step out of the room to Google it to see if it was even possible.”

And while it’s already rare to have quadruplets, there’s something particularly improbable about the children Ness is having.
Not only is it unusual for quadruplets to be composed of two sets of identical twins as Ness is now expecting, but such extreme pregnancies are usually influenced by fertility treatments.
Since Ness’ quadruplets were all conceived naturally, that means her pregnancy has a one in 70 million chance of occurring.
Ness’ babies are due in mid October and she’s continued working as a hairstylist for as long as her pregnancy remains relatively smooth, but she’s understandably both worried and excited for what the future will bring.

Because while she’s considered the logistic concerns of going anywhere with her children and set up a GoFundMe campaign to deal with the costs associated with raising them, she’s also excited to see how identical they are and how energetic they’ll be.
In her words, “Once I know that everything’s good and they are here and they’re still healthy. I just can’t wait for that part.”
