If you ask anyone what Pixar movie made them cry the most, I guarantee their answer is Up .
The story of Carl and Ellie’s love is one of heartbreak, joy, and hope. Even 12 years after its release, Up remains a source of inspiration for so many artists — including stained glass artists !
Let’s check out this masterpiece, shall we?
I don’t know how to express my awe over this piece.
Everything about it was clearly crafted with so much love. The windows, the door, the balloons — you can see a lot of care went into choosing the colors and placement of the glass.
Oh, and it was done at a high school.
“My high school art teacher was AMAZING, we took his stained glass class (I had already fallen in love with glass through my other art classes with him) and he allowed us to pursue this project the whole semester.”
The whole project took about 4 months.
“We spent a minimum of 3 hours/day 5 days/week for about 4 months. Definitely the most intense project I’ve done but SO SATISFYING!!!!!”
I never would have imagined that this was done in such a short space of time.
What a labor of love.
Drawing inspiration from pop culture is one of the coolest forms of art to me, so I’m delighted to see people use their creativity to honor the things they love. This is a masterpiece!
